The Moshi & Surroundings Bike Tour
Our Moshi by Bike Adventure
Our guided Moshi Bike Tour is popular for a reason. It’s 20km so it’s long enough to be an adventure but it’s not exactly the Tour de France. And it’s the best way to really see the true Moshi. This fascinating tour takes you from the colorful, bustling Moshi town roads to nearby picturesque villages, through forest trails and along tiny farmland paths. You’ll get an authentic flavour of this little typically-Tanzanian community nestling in the green and fertile foothills of Kilimanjaro, through first-hand experience of town and agricultural life and of its colonial history. And you’ll enjoy a cheeky beer, too!
Explore the stunning Arusha National park on a bike and enjoy the fresh air while being surrounded by its zebras, giraffes, bushbucks, monkeys, buffalos, birds and many more. With Mount Meru in the background, ride through different habitats & beautiful lakes and let yourself be charmed by the beauty of the landscape.
TIf you love nature then you’re spoiled for choice. The hikes surrounding Moshi are truly breathtaking. If you’d like to explore the spirit of Kilimanjaro without the actual climb, then its foothills will present you with miles of paths through valleys and along ridges, through lush rainforest alive with birdsong and colobus chatter, and even up into eerie montaine forest.

Machame Route or the “whiskey route” is one of the most popular routes due to its picturesque views and varied landscapes. However, climbing through Machame Route is a bit difficult as compared to Marangu route. Even though the walk on the Machame route is steeper and longer, still the success rate is higher than the Marangu route.
Machame Route is not technically difficult, but the climb is more exhausting as it has many ups and downs crossing a chain of valleys and ridges. Therefore, the route is best suited for people with some hiking or trekking experiences and for those who love adventures. For first-timers the climbers, the route can be tiring.
Machame Route starts from the south, heading towards the east, navigating beneath the southern ice fields ahead of summiting. Usually, the minimum days to summit Kilimanjaro through this route is six, but seven days is recommended.
The Marangu route day trip is a fantastic full-day excursion that takes you to Kilimanjaro's Mandara hut, the first camp along the Marangu route. Starting from the Marangu Gate at 1879m, you'll hike 8km uphill to reach Mandara hut at 2720m, and then descend the same distance back. The entire journey typically takes 6 to 8 hours, depending on the hiker's experience level and objectives. It's a great option for those looking for a shorter but still rewarding Kilimanjaro experience in just one day.
Yes, that's correct! The Marangu Route on Kilimanjaro offers a day hike option where you ascend to Mandara Hut, which is the first camp on the route, and then return the same way in one day. It's a great option for those who want to experience a part of the Kilimanjaro trek without committing to a multi-day climb. The hike to Mandara Hut usually takes around 3-4 hours, depending on your pace and fitness level, and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
Known as the Coca-Cola route, the Marangu route is a classic trek on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the oldest, most well-established route. Many favor the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope. It is also the only route that offers sleeping huts in dormitory-style accommodations. There are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut.
Kikuletwa Hot Spring also known as Maji Moto is located in Kilimanjaro, and it is a perfect small oasis in the middle of the dry land. It is surrounded by palm trees, stunning sprawling fig trees and has crystal blue water to take a dip in. It is one of the best places to admire the wonders of nature and enjoy life.
You will get to spend the day here and relax, swim, jump off a swing rope, eat a local lunch and if you sit still in the water for long enough, you will get a free fish spa. There is also an option to go to a beautiful (hidden) waterfall nearby. And if you are lucky, you will get some stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

The 5 to 6 Days Marangu route Kilimanjaro climbing, joining or sharing or private or group is also referred to as the "Coca-Cola" route, as it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path. It is the oldest and the most well established route on the Kilimanjaro. This is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style.
Guests are supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining halls, basic washrooms and toilets The short time frame of the route makes altitude acclimatization fairly difficult. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the southeast. Marangu is unfortunately less scenic than the other routes because the ascent and descent are along the same path. It is also the most crowded route for that reason. Climb & Safari Tours® offers Marangu Route climbing for five and six days climb.
