Materuni is located under the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Our guide will pick you up from your hotel/airport early in the morning then head to Materuni village. Enjoy a morning hike in the village surrounded by beautiful tropical rainforests giving you a scenic view of the city as you approach the waterfalls for a refreshing dip in the waterfall pool, if the weather allows. You will also get to explore the cultural heritage of the Chagga tribe through their local banana beer and coffee roasted traditionally, whereas you can join in the coffee-making process to its final. At 0700hrs you will be transferred from your hotel in Moshi to Simba Farm where you will start your bike tour. Your cycle today starts with a downhill slope through the farm as you head toward the main rough road. You follow the main rough road through the Ngare Nairobi village and cycle along the Ndarakwai Conservancy border towards the West Kilimanjaro airstrip. You then follow the main dirt road towards the Tinga Tinga village. You will then proceed south towards the Ngabobo Village cycling through the dry and arid open grasslands, an environment completely different from the lush, green slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro which you have left behind. Wildlife such as wildebeest, giraffes, zebra and elands can be seen on this section of the ride. The final part of the path is a gradual ascent on a gravel road as you cycle through the Ngabobo Village towards the Maasai Lodge where the tour ends. On this trip, you will hike on the Marangu Route with one night at Mandara Hut and towards Horombo Hut before returning to Mandara for lunch and then hiking back. You will NOT reach the summit. All short treks are offered on a private basis, and you can start on any day of the year. The short treks are geared for people who like to hike but reaching the summit isn't a "must do", and allow one to experience the excitement of hiking on the highest peak on the African continent. All trekking inside of the Tanzania National Park require the services of a certified Kilimanjaro guide, and the Marangu route is the only route where short treks are allowed. For an overnight hike you will stay at the park huts.

This cycling tour will lead you out of the city heading south into the enormous and beautiful sugar cane fields. You will see entire villages constructed for plantation workers by TPC, The Tanzanian Plantation Company.
