On this day trip, you will hike on the Marangu Route up to Mandara Hut for lunch. You will NOT reach the summit. All short treks are offered on a private basis, and you can start on any day of the year. The short treks are geared for people who like to hike but reaching the summit isn’t a “must do”, and allow one to experience the excitement of hiking on the highest peak on the African continent. All trekking inside of the Tanzania National Park require the services of a certified Kilimanjaro guide, and the Marangu route is the only route where short treks are allowed.

The Rongai route is one of the most favourable routes to attempt Kilimanjaro during the rainy season, as it sees substantially less rain than the southern routes. The route ‘also known as the Nalemuru route’ is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the North, close to the Kenyan border. Rongai route offers a true wilderness experience in the early stages of the climb, it is the preferred route for those looking for an alternative to the crowded Marangu route, for those who want a more remote hike and for those who climb during the rainy season (the north side receives less precipitation). Very similar to Lemosho route, however it starts at 3,600 meters and is therefore not ideal for trekkers who have little or no experience of high altitude trekking. On the first day you begin at Shira Gate to Simba Camp before joining the Lemosho Route on day two at Shira Camp 2. The high starting point is however a major negative for this route as many experience altitude sickness from day one without enough time to acclimatize. The route over the Shira Plateau has several possible variations.After Shira Camp 2 the route joins the Machame Route via Lava Tower, and then descends to the Barranco Camp via the Southern Circuit. Ascent to Uhuru Peak is made via Barafu Camp and up the southern slopes of Kibo. The route is seldom used by other trekkers and so your initial two days on the mountain are less crowded than on most other routes.

You will begin your hike at Marangu Gate (1,900m) before traversing through the equatorial rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,700m), which is situated on the forest belt border just below Maundi Crater. Along the way, you’ll get to witness some of the mountain’s diverse flora and fauna, while enjoying breath-taking views of the magnificent Mt. Kilimanjaro. You will also get the chance to see a variety of colourful birdlife and many species of monkeys including the Black and White Colobus. You'll pass through a forest reserve on the way to West Kilimanjaro, where you can drive and spot Colobus monkeys among the trees. You begin your hike at 3,500 meters above sea level and proceed through the stunningly untamed Shira Plateau landscape. You'll step out of the vehicle, put on your shoes, and enjoy the sights, sounds, and hues of Tanzania's breathtaking wilderness. When the weather permits, you can see views of Kilimanjaro's northern glaciers and its highest peak, Kibo, while hiking various trails under the guidance of a ranger. The views of the highest free-standing mountain in the world are juxtaposed with the vast plains of the neighboring Amboseli National Park in Kenya and the deep gorge of the Simba River. You will make a brief stop at various observation points along the northern rim of Shira Crater to observe the volcanic cones that dot the surrounding terrain. Following a four-hour hike—or shorter if your legs tire—you will return to your hotel.

During this 4-day Tented safari, you will visit the Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti National Park. Lemosho route is one of the best routes for acclimatization. The route is less used and a beautiful way up to the Shira Plateau. The route is one of the few where groups may be accompanied on the first day by an armed ranger, as the forests around the Lemosho Glades are inhabited by buffalo, elephant and other wildlife. 8 days Lemosho has one of the highest sucess rates. The additional days give your body more time to acclimatize, reducing the effects of altitude sickness and give you more time to rest before attempting the summit.

Known as the "Coca-Cola" route, the Marangu route is a classic trek on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the oldest, most well established route. Many favor the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope. It is also the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodations.

The second hottest option among the climbers is that the Machame route also referred to as “the Whiskey Route”. This route offers a good sort of views, landscapes, and experiences. The start line of the route, Machame Gate, is merely a 20-minute drive from Aishi Machame Hotel. Located on the southern slope of Mt Kilimanjaro, Machame Gate will lead you to the highest of Kilimanjaro along the exciting footpath which starts at the tropical forest, then runs through all the climate zones and finishes with the Arctic desert within the summit area. Camps along the trek are favorably located for a smooth and gradual acclimatization transition process. On the 3rd day, Machame Route converges with Lemosho and Umbwe at Barranco camp. You can choose from a six or seven-day climb. The latter one is very preferred for better acclimatization transition.
