This is a whole day excursion very different from the rest in the area. The site is located in the middle steppe just halfway between El Calafate and El Chaltén. Throughout the walk you can see a large number of petrified logs that lie on the surface, some 70 million years old, some with a diameter of 1.20 m. These remains are testimony to ancient times where the weather was very different from today and allowed the support of a large and abundant flora. Occasionally fossil remains of different types of dinosaurs are discovered.

Glaciares Gourmet is a full day experience aboard the María Turquesa Cruise, which tours some places of this Patagonian landscape, navigating it with the highest comfort. An activity specially designed for a memorable experience. You will visit several hanging glaciers such as Seco, Heim Sur, Peinetta and then disembark at Puesto de Las Vacas. There we will hike for 30 minutes through part of a Patagonian Andean forest and its beaches. In this activity you will really get to know the traditional Patagonian culture. Upon arrival at the ranch you will be welcomed with fried cakes and coffee, listening to the story of how the first settlers lived. You will learn about the traditional sheep herding, you will see the corrals and constructions of the ranch, observe the work of the corrals and a shearing demonstration, then a walk on the banks of the Calafate stream, observe the flora according to the time of the year. You will taste a wine from Montañes and a lamb confit. We continue to a room of the estancia to see a projection of recognition to the pioneer families. To end this spectacular afternoon/evening, you will enjoy dinner together with a folkloric show of various typical dances of our country.

Estancia 25 de Mayo is a typical Patagonian ranch, with 17.000 hectares and its historical main house just a few minutes away from El Calafate downtown. This is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the landscape at the base of Calafate Hill, offering to explore the rural lifestyle. The appointment is in the ranch’s park, in Kau Yatun Hotel’s gardens. Mate and typical fried pasties give a warm welcome while an introductory talk about pioneers’ history brings the group to ancient ages. After making an antique “road” coffee, dogs will demonstrate their driving the sheep to the patio. Later on, a walk by a small stream will lead to a “Machines museum”, an open air spot where the old vehicles used for field work are laying. When reaching the “warehouse” and the barnyards, a speech about the local wool production process is delivered. The walk concludes with a “Patagonian wine tasting” by the stream and, on the way back, the organic gardens and plant nursery are visited.

This tour is ideal for the first or last day of your stay. The 4x4 vehicles will take you into Cerro Huyliche to discover, for 3 hours, incredible views of the town, Lake Argentino and the imposing Andes Mountain Range. The activity takes place on Cerro Huyliche, at 1050 meters above sea level, from where the highest and most imposing view of the city is reached. The excursion begins with the pick-up from the Hotels to then complete a journey of approximately 15 kilometers to the entrance of Cerro Huyliche where the ascent will begin. The first stop is at a natural viewpoint that offers a magnificent and unique panoramic view of El Calafate and the central body of Lake Argentino. Continuing the ascent you will reach the Labyrinth of Stones. From there you will begin the descent down the north slope of the hill and arrive at Piedra de los Sombreros. Finally, you will return to El Calafate descending without losing sight of the imposing Argentino Lake.

The excursion begins early in the morning from El Calafate. We take the mythic Route 40, that goes along the Argentino Lake up to La Leona river. We will pass by the canyon with the same name “Cañadón La Leona” and after 1.15 h ride we will make a short stop at an ancient route hotel "La Leona", almost a museum of the Route 40. Our trip continues along the Lake Viedma, from where we will have magical views of glaciers, hidden lakes and the overpowering presence of the Mount Fitz Roy. After arriving at Chalten we continue our ride to Lago del Desierto taking the route that borders the Río de las Vueltas taking us deeper into the Lengas and Nires forest. The road ends after one hour ride and 37 kms up to the North arriving at Lago del Desierto. From the pier Punta Sur we'll take a 20 minute boat ride to the natural reserve Vespignani from where 3 self-guided paths take us to the best miradors of Vespignani Glacier and the north face of Mount Fitz Roy.

Starting early in the morning, we head towards the heart of Lago Argentino, where we will embark on an exciting navigation to the bottom of the South Arm. Upon disembarking, an unforgettable walk to the serene Frías Lake awaits us. After a gentle ascent, we will reach the natural viewpoint, from where we can marvel at the panoramic views of Lake Frías and its surroundings before descending towards its shore. We will board the Fitzcarraldo boat to sail through the crystalline waters of a dazzling emerald tone, sailing 5 km to the other shore. From there, we will begin a 6 km trek through the Frías River valley, getting closer and closer to the imposing glaciers. Along the way we will witness a landscape in constant change, surrounded by majestic Grande, Cubo and Dickson glaciers, which spill their ice towards the Frías Superior Lagoon. We will have lunch on the shores of the Frías Superior Lagoon if the wind conditions allow it.

It begins at 06:00 hs with the departure by bus from El Calafate to El Chaltén, traveling along Route 40 for about three hours. Along the way, you can appreciate the views of the Andes and Mount Fitz Roy. Arriving at El Chaltén at 08:30, the group makes a stop before heading to the Electric River Bridge where the trekking begins at 09:30. The first leg of the walk leads to the Mirador Piedras Blancas, and then descends to the Meeting Point at Poincenot Base Camp, where the group is divided. Group 2 chooses to go to Laguna Capri, an easier stretch, where they have lunch before returning to El Chaltén. Group 1 continues to the Lagoon of the Three, ascending 430 meters of elevation for 3 km, until reaching a viewpoint from where you can see the Fitz Roy and the Lagoon of the Three. After exploring the area and lunch, the group begins the descent towards El Chaltén. The minibus departs back at 19:00 hs, arriving between 21:00 and 22:00 hs.
