Early in the morning we depart from Calafate. After traveling about 30 km to the east, we will take the Mythical Route 40 bordering, for a large part of our route, the eastern margin of Lake Argentino and the shores of the Santa Cruz River. Then, we will meet the La Leona River, which gives its name to the inn and hotel of the La Estela ranch. There we will make a stop to learn a little more about the history of the La Leona parador and hotel where, whoever wishes, can enjoy a hot infusion with homemade cakes. We will leave for El Chaltén and, after touring the Chorrillo del Salto about 4 km from the town and having lunch in La Tapera, after 45 minutes of moderate walking, we arrive at the Mirador de los Cóndores, a panoramic point from where you can see the main surrounding mountains, the Las Vueltas river valley and the town of El Chaltén.

From the beginning, the trip holds pleasant surprises. Leaving the town, to the right we can see Lake Argentino with its Redonda Bay. In it you can see an important variety of birds, highlighting the black-necked swan, flamingo, steam duck, coot, up-land goose. When we get to the Park we will have a panoramic view of the Perito Moreno Glacier. Brief stop to take pictures and continue to Puerto Bajo las Sombras. Here you will board the boat for the Navigation through the southern arm of the Canal de los Témpanos to have different views of the wall of the Perito Moreno Glacier. (Duration: 1 hour) Back at the Port, we go to the Footbridges where we will have a service sector for visitors and a system of balconies and footbridges that allow walks through different routes and access to different truly incredible views of the Glacier and its proximity. After some free time for walks and lunch (optional), the return to El Calafate begins.

This tour is ideal for the first or last day of your stay. The 4x4 vehicles will take you into Cerro Huyliche to discover, for 3 hours, incredible views of the town, Lake Argentino and the imposing Andes Mountain Range. The activity takes place on Cerro Huyliche, at 1050 meters above sea level, from where the highest and most imposing view of the city is reached. The excursion begins with the pick-up from the Hotels to then complete a journey of approximately 15 kilometers to the entrance of Cerro Huyliche where the ascent will begin. The first stop is at a natural viewpoint that offers a magnificent and unique panoramic view of El Calafate and the central body of Lake Argentino. Continuing the ascent you will reach the Labyrinth of Stones. From there you will begin the descent down the north slope of the hill and arrive at Piedra de los Sombreros. Finally, you will return to El Calafate descending without losing sight of the imposing Argentino Lake.

HIGH DIFFICULTY ACTIVITY: Visit Laguna de los Tres from El Calafate on the same day! This is a Full Day activity, without a guide, through self-guided trails of Los Glaciares National Park, North Zone, with departure and return in the day from El Calafate. The trail is of high difficulty. During the tour you will have panoramic views of the Fitz Roy mountain range, and you will visit Laguna Capri, with incredible views of the town of El Chaltén and the Río de las Vueltas. The estimated arrival at Camping Poicenot is at 12:30 p.m., where the most demanding part begins, for one hour you climb 800 meters in 1 km, reaching the summit, where the Laguna de los Tres and the Laguna de los Tres are located. Dirty being the closest to Fitz Roy. It takes an estimated 4 hours of descent along the same path.

The excursion begins in El Calafate when the bus leaves for Los Glaciares National Park. Once in Puerto Bajo de las Sombras, just 7 km from the catwalks, we will take a boat to cross Lake Rico and, after sailing for 20 minutes, we will disembark on the opposite coast. Little by little we will walk for 30 minutes always with a view of the southern wall of the Glacier in case some thunderous landslide surprises us. Once next to the ice it will be time for an unforgettable experience... We will be able to fully enjoy its intense and varied blues, whites and its whimsical shapes. We will have time to take many photos and then we will return to the boarding place always accompanied by an experienced guide. The total walk is approximately 1.30 hours.

We begin our Perito Moreno Glacier tour by picking you up directly at El Calafate Bus Station in the morning. You’ll then head over to Los Glaciares National Park. Travelling along Ruta 11, we’ll get some fantastic views as you'll be driven along the edge of Argentino lake towards Brazo Rico. You'll get to see some spectacular views of the Perito Moreno Glacier on the way to the Park. After you go inside the National Park, you'll have free time to watch and tour the park's catwalks and viewpoints, all at different heights, which will give you the perfect opportunity to see all the best sides of the glacier. The highlight of this experience is that you'll be free to wander the corners of this UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon, you'll head back to El Calafate and be dropped back at the Bus Station.

Dare to do a minitrekking in the Perito Moreno Glacier! I lived the experience of walking on the glacier. This unmissable experience begins in the “Bajo de las sombras” port, within the Los Glaciares National Park. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours and you will be able to enjoy the ice formations; learn about the flora, fauna and glaciology of the region; and, especially, on the phenomenon of rupture of the glacier. Being a moderate walk, on an irregular but firm surface, it can only be done by people between 08 and 65 years old, due to its physical demands. Neither can pregnant women or people with reduced mobility, arthritis, prostheses, knee problems, meniscus problems, overweight people, or people with heart problems. The activity does not include food, so you must bring your own lunch and a bottle of water (There is no possibility of buying food anywhere).
