A dram fine day out from Inverness exploring three of our finest local distilleries and their exquisite whiskies We'll head south from Inverness, to THE CAIRN DISTILLERY, situated beautifully on the banks of the River Spey and in the shadow of the Cairngorm Mountains. Here we'll explore one of Scotland's newest and most modern distilleries We return north towards Inverness and nip off the A9 at TOMATIN DISTILLERY. We can take their Legacy tour, or simply enjoy a dram or two in their tasting rooms. A late lunch at the wonderful 3 Bridges community owned cafe in Tomatin then north once again on the A9. Bypassing Inverness we take the Kessock Bridge over the Beauly Firth and head west along its northern shore to Muir of Ord, home of GLEN ORD DISTILLERY and the SINGLETON MALT. Here we can enjoy their Classic tour or simply sample some of their fine malts in the distillery's comfortable and contemporary tasting rooms. 1 or 2 distillery tours plus 1 or 2 tastings.

This full-day tour offers a scenic journey from Inverness to the Isle of Skye and Eilean Donan Castle. This is a full day private tour taking you from Inverness to the Magical Mystical Isle of Skye where you will get the opportunity to hike at The Fairy Pools and also The Fairy Glen where you will marvel at the scenery that surrounds you. You will also see enroute two of the most iconic Castles in Scotland - Eilean Donan Castle and also Urquhart Castle on the shore of Loch Ness. So many famous Highland attractions in this private tour and your guides are all local Highlanders.

Driving north out of Inverness, we cross the Kessock Bridge before heading west through Achnasheen to Lochcarron. Here we can spend some time at Lochcarron Weavers Heritage Shop before our route takes us to Kishorn and the Bealach na Ba. This dramatic mountain pass, famous for being one of the most scenic drives in the world, takes us from sea level to over 2,000 feet before descending back to the shore at Applecross. The delightful Applecross Inn provides an opportunity for a delicious local seafood lunch. The epic scenery seems to continue endlessly as we follow the coast road round to Shieldaig. The views to Skye, the Isles of Rona & Raasay and a glimpse of Harris in the far distance are simply breathtaking! We can stop for a bite of lunch in Shieldaig if we've missed Applecross, and then continue through the majestic Torridon mountains to Kinlochewe. The route back to Inverness takes us through Glen Docherty and provides an opportunity to enjoy our favourite view of Loch Maree.

We'll head north from Inverness, over the Kessock and Cromarty bridges then take the high road to Millionaire's View. Beautiful vistas north, east and west over the Dornoch Firth and beyond. Descending back to sea level we'll enjoy the Discovery Tour at BALBLAIR DISTILLERY, nestled on the southern shore of the Dornoch Firth, one of Scotland's best kept whisky secrets. By way of contrast, we'll head just a few miles east along the firth to GLENMORANGIE DISTILLERY. We can take their Classic tour, or simply enjoy a dram or two in their tasting rooms. A late lunch at the wonderful Platform 1864 restaurant / coffee shop in Tain then south west along the A9 to Tore. Heading west above the northern shore of the Beauly Firth to Muir of Ord, home of the GLEN ORD DISTILLERY and THE SINGLETON MALT. Here we can enjoy their Classic tour or simply sample some of their fine malts in the distillery's comfortable and contemporary tasting rooms. 1 or 2 distillery tours plus 1 or 2 tastings.

I try to accommodate what the Guest would like to visit. The Whisky tour can be extended to accommodate a Gin tasting in Speyside if possible. The tour includes a production tour and a tasting at a distillery. The cooperage visit can be amended if a further tasting is required. The tour listed is a guide and can be adapted accordingly.

We’ll begin with a gentle drive along the north shore of Loch Ness, stopping briefly at Invermoriston for a stroll by the falls and a visit to the curious Clog and Craft shop. Continuing north west from here, passing beautiful Loch Cluanie with a possible coffee stop at The Cluanie Inn, we'll pass through the majestic mountain landscape of Kintail. We can stop near the foot of the glen to take a look at the site of the Battle of Glenshiel (1719). We then head over the Ratagan pass, taking in some magnificent views of the Five Sisters of Kintail before dropping down to Glenelg. Here we will investigate the famous Glenelg Brochs, two 2,000 year old structures just past the village, before heading for the community operated ferry to take us over the sea to Skye. Returning over the Skye Bridge, we’ll go searching for Highland cattle and palm trees in Plockton! Allow us to take you on a journey of discovery to our Wild West coast. Rugged shorelines, magnificent mountains and secret treasures. This lovely route will provide many opportunities for impromptu diversions along dramatic little back roads. We can visit some beautiful wee villages like Badachro and Poolewe, and take stunning beach walks at Red Point, Big Sand or Mellon Udrigle. The famous Inverewe Garden showcases rare species thriving where the effect of the Gulf Stream meets the Scottish Highlands.

We'll head south from Inverness over The Slochd Summit from where we see our first view of The Cairngorm Mountains. We continue on to the Highland Folk Museum, Newtonmore where you can discover the history and heritage of The Scottish Highlands. From here we will enjoy a lovely tour along the quieter back roads of Badenoch & Strathspey. We'll visit Ruthven Barracks before passing through Rothiemurchus and Loch Morlich. Our journey then takes us up to Cairngorm ski area and UK’s highest mountain railway. Experience Cairngorm Mountain and enjoy wonderful panoramic views from UK’s highest restaurant, over 1000 metres up. Back down in Strathspey we can go looking for red squirrels and perhaps Ospreys amid our indigenous Caledonian Pine Forest by Loch Garten and Nethy Bridge. Our tour takes us on to Grantown-on-Spey and, if time allows, we can enjoy an envigorating dram or two on our way home at either Tomatin or the new Cairn Distillery.

We will pass through some amazing scenery today. Taking a high road through some moorland and having a brief photo stop at the Millionaires View. Dunrobin Castle should be a short drive away after this. The castle was built and dates back to 1275 by Robert, Earl of Sutherland, The impressive house contains 189 rooms, with a rich collection of fine furniture, paintings, tapestries and objects d'art. The castle is magnificently set in a great park and you are free to walk in these beautiful gardens which overlook the sea. There should also be a falconry display within the grounds. Your journey after this will pass over the Dornoch bridge and shortly after we'll reach the Royal Burgh of Tain where Glenmorangie Distillery is situated.
