During the visit, you will have a chance to mingle with the Maasai and chat with them, but your social skills and creativity will determine how much they open up to you. Your English-speaking guide will assist you and translate into Kimaasai, as the Maasai themselves do not speak any other languages. Lemosho Route:
Approaching from the west, the Lemosho route is a relatively new route and is one of the best for scenery. It is one of our highly recommended routes, not only for its stunning scenery, but also due to its steady incline and better acclimatization. The first two days of the climb are quiet and have relatively low traffic, before joining the more popular Machame route. Time period is 7days and 8days.
The eight-day Lemosho route variation is the ideal schedule for this route. On the 8-day Lemosho route, the trek from Barranco to Barafu is broken up into two days, allowing for a short day just prior to the summit attempt. This is important because summit day begins very early, around midnight, so climbers are sleep deprived going into the toughest day on the mountain. By having a short day beforehand, climbers can be better rested.
The eight-day Lemosho route is highly recommended and used by most prominent Kilimanjaro operators.
The Northern Circuit route is the newest, most exciting route on Kilimanjaro. The trek follows the Lemosho trail in the beginning, approaching Kilimanjaro from the west. However, instead of following the southern traverse like all the other west approaching routes, the Northern Circuit traverses the mountain around the quiet, rarely visited northern slopes.
The Northern Circuit route is a nine day climb, which is the longest route in terms of time and distance travelled. The days spent at around 13,000 feet are great for acclimatization, resulting in the highest success rates for all routes on Mount Kilimanjaro.
With a high success rate, incredible varied scenery and a very low number of visitors, the Northern Circuit route is certainly one of the best routes on Kilimanjaro.
Embark on this epic 7-day Kilimanjaro Rongai hiking adventure and enjoy thrilling scenic vistas and pristine wildlife on the way to the peak of Africa. The Marangu Route has been referred to as the ‘Coca Cola’ route and this has led potential climbers to think that it is an easy route to the summit. This is far from the truth to be honest! But our trusted guides will be with you the entire time encouraging you along the way.The only reason that people say it is easier is because it is the only route up Kilimanjaro where you sleep in huts as opposed to tents. An optional acclimatization day at Horombo Huts is highly recommended for those with no prior trekking in altitude experience under their belt. Advance booking of hut accommodation is required to avoid any inconveniences. The route starts from the park headquarters in the village of Marangu and heads straight westwards towards Kibo. The trail goes through lush rainforest, heath and moorland to alpine desert and ultimately the arctic zone at the peak and same route down.
We will offer you a memorable opportunity to interactively experience the Masai way of life through day trips. Guests will be able to participate in a variety of unique cultural activities, and encouraged to delve as deep into the experience as possible!
