The 6 days Machame route is perfect for those who want a thrilling as well as adventurous experience amid their journey. The Machame route, also known as the Whiskey route, is one of the most popular routes on Kilimanjaro. In spite of being a tough climb compared to the Marangu route, the Machame route has one of the highest summit success rates. The topography of the route allows climbers to “trek high & sleep low”, which helps in acclimatization, which makes it one of the most favorable routes for acclimatization.The Machame route is scenically striking and diverse. However, due to the heavy crowds, it loses some of its grandeur.

This route approaches the mountain from the southern east, famously known as the “Coca Cola “ route. This route is the oldest route being used since 1889. Many tourists prefer this route because its easy to climb and guests are accommodated in huts in the style of dormitories. The route takes a minimum of five days but recommended to do six days climb to increase chances to make to the top easily. Led by professional climbing crews, you'll acclimatize with ease along this popular climbing route while crossing diverse terrain from rainforests to arctic desert. You'll be comfortable throughout the experience with porters carrying equipment, kitchen team cooking, and accommodation in wooden huts provided. Marangu Route is also known as the “Coca Cola” or “tourist” route. It is the easiest and shortest route to the summit. This is also the only route with the comforts of sleeping huts at every camp site with solar lights and comfortable beds. The huts are communal, and the bunks have a sponge mattress and pillow. There are 60 beds at both Mandara and Kibo Huts and 120 beds at Horombo Hut. Bathrooms and running water are available at the two lower huts. Mens’ and ladies’ latrines are available at the last camp but are very basic. All climbing groups, often from several countries around the world, share meals in dining huts providing a jovial and energetic atmosphere. This route is usually done in 5 days but can be done in 6 days for better acclimatization. The extra day can be spent resting at Horombo or climbing the small peak of Mawenzi.

In our cooking classes, we welcome all e.g., vegans, vegetarians, meat lovers. All we need is to be informed in advance if there is any dietary restrictions. With the assistance of the host you will learn about the culture, ways of bargaining, buying groceries at the market and where to get fresh stuff. The Marangu route is one of the most popular routes to the summit of Kilimanjaro. This could partly be as a result of the fact that the Marangu is the least expensive route, but more so, perhaps the fact that it is possible to do the Marangu route in 5 days, thereby getting to the summit one day earlier compared to the Machame route. This is not always the best way, due to a shorter acclimatisation period. The Marangu route does however offer you the option of spending an extra acclimatisation day on the mountain. This extends the route into a 6-day trek, greatly increasing your chances of success. Shared hut accommodation on the Marangu route forms one of the main differences, compared to the other routes. It offers you the relative luxury of being able to sleep in huts along the entire route. Mineral water, soft drinks, chocolates and beers are also sold at all the camps on this route.

The Lemosho route is considered one of the easier routes on Kilimanjaro, as its longer itinerary allows for better acclimatization. However, hikers will still need to ascend the Barranco Wall and climb steeply on summit night. The 8-day Lemosho climb gives one of the highest success rates, rather than trying to squeeze the climb into 7 days. The extra day allows for a shorter pre-summit day, meaning that you arrive at base camp by lunchtime, fuel up with food, and tuck up in your tent to rest for what will be a tough summit ascent starting at midnight. Experienced and already acclimatised mountaineers may opt for the more difficult 7-day ascent along the Lemosho route. No technical climbing is required, but a good level of fitness is recommended.

It descends using the Mweka route, rewarding climbers with views of the expansive Shira Plateau, an optional scramble up Lava Tower, a climb up the Great Barranco Wall, and a traverse underneath Kilimanjaro southern ice field.

The Lemosho route is one of our preferred routes due to its low traffic, beautiful scenery and a high summit success rate. The Lemosho route starts off from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the lush rainforest to Shira Plateau. We recommend a minimum of 7 days to attempt this route but 8 days is preferable for better acclimatization and summit success. The Lemosho route joins the Machame route at Shira 2 Camp and then follows the same route through the southern circuit and descending at Mweka Gate.

This is a very special tour that concentrates in the Serengeti, to follow the Great Migration. You will spend at least 3 nights in the park, usually two in the Central Area (largest concentration of big cats) and two where the Migration is according to the time of the year. Mt. Meru is located in the heart of Arusha National Park and it is 50 miles west of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Mount Meru is a massive volcano reaching 14,980 feet (4,565 meters). This trek serves as an ideal warm up for Mt. Kilimanjaro due to its altitude acclimatization and hiking distances. This trek is also geared towards hikers that prefer less crowds and a challenging ascent. Because Mount Meru is located in Arusha National Park, hikers must climb with an armed ranger due to the wide range of wildlife living on the mountain. On the lower slopes of the mountain, hikers are more likely to see elephants, giraffes, and buffalo!
