The Lemosho route is traditionally one of the quieter and lesser-known routes on the mountain. It’s also the newest and probably the most diverse in terms of the ecological systems and landscapes it passes through. The first two days of this route take you through lush rainforest before you emerge into heath and moorland then join the Machame Route on the third day. This narrow trail, which begins on the Western side of Kilimanjaro, has some very steep and undulating sections. Hikers overnight in tents.

The tour begins with a one-hour trip to a somewhat unlikely site, a Polish cemetery. Visitors will learn about the little known history of some 5,000 refugees who arrived in Tanzania after fleeing Europe during WW2. We then proceed to Mangalia Waterfalls where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the cool waters that flow down from Mount Meru. On the way back down we will have a closer look at Tanzanian culture by exploring three villages, Akheri, Patandi and Mavinuni. This is followed by a short stop at Lake Duluti, where we will enjoy a drink and the lake view for 20 minutes before returning to the meeting point. The huts have communal dining halls and basic washrooms, ranging from flushing toilets and running water at the lower huts to long drop toilets and buckets of water at Kibo Hut.
