The aboriginal kingdoms of Tenerife, known as menceyatos, were nine distinct territories ruled by indigenous leaders called menceyes before the Spanish conquest in the 15th century. These menceyatos were the regions of Taoro, Tegueste, Tacoronte, Anaga, Güímar, Abona, Adeje, Icod, and Daute. Each menceyato had its own social structure, economy, and culture, with agriculture, livestock, and fishing being the main activities. The Guanches, the indigenous people of Tenerife, practiced a polytheistic religion and lived in cave dwellings, showing a rich culture that blended communal and hierarchical elements.

In our small groups (max. 15 people), the Universe comes within arm's reach through the half-meter diameter Stargate Telescope. You can catch a glimpse of the birth and death of stars, see the spiral arms of distant galaxies, and with the help of an expert astronomer, learn about star patterns and the distances of stars.

We offer guided Adventure tours for beginners and professionals with Enduro Motorbikes throughout San Miguel de Abona, covering both the most famous landmarks as well as the unknown corners that are found outside the most popular guides. All parts offer an exciting and challenging start for the riders as they navigate through the official racecourse, giving them a taste of real off-road adventure. The journey will continue through the surrounding volcanic terrain, passing by various natural landmarks without stopping. We are right on the beach at one of the most amazing dive sites of the island, with regular turtle, ray and angel shark shightings. Others operate in this area out of a van, while our 160 sq metre dive centre has all the facilities of a fully functional dive shop. We offer small groups of 2 only (if a family of 3 would like to go together, that is also OK).

This area, which extends from 565 to 1561 m up to the summit of the Chinyero volcano, is characterised by a high concentration of volcanoes, which give rise to the most recent sector of the Abeque ridge. This ridge is the site of two of Tenerife's historic eruptions: the Arenas Negras eruption in 1706, which destroyed part of the town and port of Garachico, and the Chinyero eruption in 1909. The Chinyero volcano is a monogenic volcano located close to Teide and is currently inactive. The last volcanic eruption took place on 8 November 1909 and ceased nine days later, making it the last volcanic eruption to have taken place in Tenerife. The protected area, due to the different degree of colonisation in the area, constitutes a place of scientific interest for the study of ecological succession. It is also a representative sample of the historical volcanism of the Canary Islands. The reserve has also been declared a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA).
