Admire the lush green layered crops before continuing to 4 viewpoints where you can take pictures of the highlands and the coast. This route is linear and easy-to-reach. It starts at Vista do Rei viewpoint, with starting point on the western side of Sete Cidades caldera, from this point at the right side it’s possible to see Caldeira Seca and Sete Cidades lakes and at the left side the western coast of S. Miguel island. After the unpaved path it’s easy to reach Sete Cidades parish with just a turn to the right. This trail runs through Protected Landscape area. Extension: 7,7 km NOTE: a minimum of 2 persons is required.

Departure from Ponta Delgada by the South coast in direction to Pico da Barrosa and stop at miradouro da Lagoa do Fogo. The tour begins in Ponta Delgada towards Sete Cidades. It includes a few stops at different viewpoints and the chance of visiting the most beautiful and unknown areas of the west and central parts of our island. After a stop at Vista do Rei viewpoint, we will descent the road that leads us into the interior of this valley to visit Sete Cidades parish. After admiring the Church of St. Nicholas, we will continue on our way towards Lagoa, through the South Coast of the Island, to have lunch at a local restaurant. Then, the tour continues towards Lagoa do Fogo, with stop at Caldeira Velha with some time for a visit. Before returning to Ponta Delgada, we will make a short stop to admire Lagoa do Fogo, from the top of Pico da Barrosa.

The tour will begin in the northern part of the island, where we will pass and stop in some beautiful viewpoints until we reach Gorrena Tea Factory, where you can taste our delicious local tea. We will then go to Ribeira dos Caldeirões, a place that has a mesmerizing waterfall. We will also pass through several floral small parishes along the way and stop in one of Nordeste’s beautiful viewpoints. Lunch will be served in Povoação village, which was the first place to be populated in São Miguel island. You will also have the chance to know Furnas and the calderas area, which is a big part of our volcanic activity and you will also see the beautiful Furnas lagoon. We will return through the south coast of the island and stop in more points of interest before the drop-off. 

One of the great ways to discover the most eastern side of the island with a beautiful hike in the middle of a valley, connecting to the sea with amazing vegetation, rock formation, an abandoned village and the highlight - Salto do Prego waterfall! In the end of the hike we will go to Furnas, which is an amazing village inside of a volcano full of volcanic activity and it is also the home of the most famous relaxing hotsprings of the island, where you can enjoy its thermal properties. This hike takes around 2 hours to complete and it is 4.5 km (2.8miles) long, with medium difficulty level.

Our guide will accompany you along a trail, much of it in very irregular volcanic rock, which will require some effort and care. .
