Alberto Aveleyra, ethnohistorian of the National School of Anthropology is the curator of the Archaeological Exhibit of teh Historical Museum of San Miguel (the House of Allende), founded in October 2022. Alberto is a published author and one of the main researchers of the site. The famous magazine Arqueología Mexicana just published his theory on Cañada de la Virgen archaeological site (Arqueologia Mexicana no. 186), you can check this an other articles in his academia.edu web page. Because the lack of support of the government, Alberto is funding his research through the tours he offers in the site. He does not have comments in tripadvisor because he has been selling his tours through airbnb where you can see the comments of his experience, one of the best rated in that portal. His research proposes that the site probably was the sanctuary of Colhuacan Chicomoztoc, "The place where they have ancestors" "The place of the Seven caves", the place of origen of Aztecs and Toltecs.

Taste of Europe in Mexico: History and Flavors of Artisan Cheese

23
When we first arrived in San Miguel de Allende, the only thing I missed was good cheese. It took some time and effort, but I finally discovered several superb local artisan cheesemakers hiding in plain sight. Known as the Empress of Cheese, I've been studying the art and science of cheese for over 20 years in Canada, the US, France and in Italy and have spent the last few years exploring the culture of Mexican cheese, specifically, artisan made European style cheeses. Now I share my knowledge and the divine cheeses I've found with others. Come learn about the rich history of European influences in Mexican artisan cheese and where to buy, how to serve and pair these cheeses with drinks and condiments and how set up a French inspired cheeseboard. Everything is sourced locally from the artisan cheeses to the herbs, flowers, honey and other ingredients used in the class. The class is held in our home with a view over the city with the beautiful pink marble Parroquia in the center.

Magical mineral town of wells from San Miguel de Allende

Currently, its imposing buildings show us the loneliness resulting from a sad decay, abandoned over time. Pozos was founded in 1576 to protect the Chichimecas' silver route. Because it was very difficult to civilize this indigenous group, this work was entrusted to the Jesuits who realized the wealth found in the minerals of this area and taught these people techniques to extract and exploit metals. Pozos has had several periods of wealth, but the day came when the minerals were exhausted and this Ghost Town was left for the admiration of adventurous visitors;
