Trek Mount Kili through Marangu Route well Known as the "Coca-Cola" route, the Marangu route approaches Kilimanjaro from the southeast. It is the oldest, most well established route. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro marangu route  Many favor the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path. Marangu is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodations. There are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut. Guests are supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining halls and basic washrooms, ranging from flushing toilets and running water at the lower huts to long drop toilets and buckets of water at Kibo Hut. This safari features some of the popular Northern Circuit game parks. With the Best of Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara Safari travel in custom designed 4x4 safari vehicles with open roofs for game viewing. This is a small group seat-in-vehicle safari with a maximum of 6 travelers per vehicle, all with window seats. Traveling for 3- days, the safari includes meals, accommodation, park entry fees. A trip to Africa is not complete without a visit to view the wildlife in the famous national parks: Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire. On safari, you can see giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, elephants, hippos, and a large variety of birds. Among the more rare treats are rhinos, leopards, cheetah, or a lion kill.

Day 1: Materuni Village & Chemka Hot Springs Start your journey with a private pick-up from Arusha to Materuni Village, home of the Chagga tribe. For those who only have six days to climb Kilimanjaro, the Machame route is the best choice because of its acclimatization profile. Compared to other six day routes, the Machame route exposes the climber to higher elevations quicker (day three) which kickstarts the body’s adaptation to altitude. However, this route requires that a person be in good shape to be able to tackle the challenging elevation gains and losses. The six day Machame variation is a difficult route. In particular, day four combined with day five makes for a very hard schedule. Day four is a full day of hiking from Barranco to Barafu. Then after dinner and a partial night’s sleep, the very long and strenuous summit day begins around midnight. The 6 day Machame route requires 19-24 hours of demanding walking, at extremely high elevation, with only 4-6 hours of sleep.

The Umbwe Route is one of the most direct and steepest paths to the summit. It ascends rapidly, which can make the trek more physically demanding. It is characterized by rugged terrain and dense rainforest, which can make for a more arduous trek compared to other routes. Despite its challenges, the route offers stunning views and diverse landscapes, including lush forests, moorlands, and alpine deserts. The Umbwe Route is less frequented than more popular routes like Marangu or Machame, providing a more solitary and less crowded trekking experience. Acclimatization: Due to its steep ascent, the Umbwe Route has a higher risk of altitude sickness, as it does not allow for gradual acclimatization. Trekkers often need to be more prepared for the effects of high altitude. Typically, the Umbwe Route is completed in 6 to 7 days to allow for proper acclimatization and to manage the challenging ascent, although shorter itineraries are possible.

From late afternoon sunsets at Shira, to the misty revelations of Kibo at the great Barranco Wall, the Machame route offers the adventurous hiker a stunning scenic "slide show" over 6 days. The Machame route is normally completed in a minimum of 6 days. There is an added benefit to this, as you are afforded the most valuable commodity on the mountain - acclimatisation. The Machame route takes you high to Lava Tower (4630m) on the day 3 and brings you down by nearly 700m for an overnight at Barranco camp (3950m). This is the secret to successful acclimatization.
