About marangu route Marangu Route has been referred to as the 'Coca Cola' route and this has led potential climbers to think that it is an easy route to the summit. The trail goes through lush rainforest, heath and moorland to alpine desert and ultimately the arctic zone at the peak and same route down. Mt. Meru is located in the heart of Arusha National Park and it is 50 miles west of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Mount Meru is a massive volcano reaching 14,980 feet (4,565 meters). This trek serves as an ideal warm up for Mt. Kilimanjaro due to its altitude acclimatization and hiking distances. This trek is also geared towards hikers that prefer less crowds and a challenging ascent. Because Mount Meru is located in Arusha National Park, hikers must climb with an armed ranger due to the wide range of wildlife living on the mountain. On the lower slopes of the mountain, hikers are more likely to see elephants, giraffes, and buffalo! The Rongai Route is the route of Kilimanjaro that begins from the north side, a route where few climbers are seen along the way. This route affords the opportunity to witness up close the Mawenzi Volcano (the second highest peak of Kilimanjaro) and the magnificent saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peak. However it requires a long drive to the park because of passing through the Marangu gate in order to obtain a permit. The route feels relatively lonely as you cross unspoiled wilderness with little crowds to bother you. Your trek begins near the Kenya border, and you will summit via Marangu route and Gilimans point. Descending will take place on the Marangu route. We offer 2 options for the Rongai route covering 5/6/7-day treks, with the 7-day trek being highly recommended for acclimatization.

The Machame route, also known as the "Whiskey" route, is the most popular route on Kilimanjaro. Machame’s draw is in its scenic beauty. On the Lake Duluti Day trip we will explore Lake Duluti; an old crater that became a lake. The lake is incredibly deep. They say its more than 700m deep, but it’s unconfirmed till this day. Lake Duluti is beautifully located between the green, lush forests and lends itself for a great deal of activities. From here you’ll have views on Mt. Meru and sometimes even Mt. Kilimanjaro. It is a paradise for reptiles and birds. Monitor lizards can be seen sunbathing on the edge of the lake and a great variety of birds have made their homes here. Occasionally monkeys can be seen swinging from the treetops on the edge of the lake.
