This trail travels alongside Lake Dunstan on the opposite side of the lake to the road that travels between Cromwell and Clyde. The engineering involved to create this trail is stunning with clip-ons attached to the rockface in places, the Hugo Suspension Bridge plus a very good trail surface throughout the ride. The views and scenery on this ride are fantastic and you can fully understand the history of the area - from the goldrush to the building of NZ's largest dam - by reading the information boards along the way.

Explore the wine region of Gibbston Valley by bike/E-bike on this self-guided ride. After a scenic shuttle transfer from Queenstown, spend the morning in the historic village of Arrowtown. Grab a coffee if you like before setting-off biking the beautiful Arrow River Trail to Gibbston Valley. Spend the afternoon visiting any of the cellar doors, a cheesery, a tavern or gin tasting room found in the valley. A superb day out giving you freedom to explore at your leisure. Head out on a 25 minute shuttle from Queenstown to Arrowtown. There's the opportunity to explore Arrowtown and grab a coffee before starting your ride. The route follows the stunning Arrow River Trail, crossing the river via a few spectacular bridges. From there, you'll join the Twin Rivers Trail, which follows the the Kawarau and Shotover rivers to the shores of Lake Whakatipu, with a few big climbs on this section. The ride finishes back at Around The Basin's shop in central Queenstown (3 Searle Lane). This is an awesome adventure day, and a great way to explore the purpose-built biking trails. A detailed map and full navigation is given at the start of your ride. The minimum riding distance is 35 km (21 miles) with a few decent hills. This ride is only for those who are confident and capable riders, with a good level of fitness. E-bike upgrades are also recommended.
