Experience the “shibori” of scarves under the direct guidance of internationally renowned traditional craftsman Terukazu Matsuoka. You will observe traditional craft techniques ranging from classic Japanese techniques to the latest methods using 3D printers. Participants will create a design, tie and dye a high quality silk scarf. You will also get to take home the finished product. Kyo-kanoko-shibori is a tie-dyeing technique used for kimonos and obis. It is a traditional craft. ⚫︎Traditional Craftsman "Kiichi Matsuoka" A traditional craftsman is an engineer engaged in the manufacture of traditional crafts designated by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, who meets certain conditions and maintains a high level of skill and technique. Kiichi Matsuoka (trade name “Kisen”) was certified as a traditional craftsman in the dyeing category of Kyo-kanoko-shibori.

I'll be happy to introduce Kyoto’s hidden culture and Kagai (‘Flower Town’Entertainment District) where Maiko and Geiko lives, while paying the greatest respect to the traditional culture of the district’s strict. We have saying "Ichigen-san Okotowari" which means even though Japanese people are not allowed to get in Ochaya for the first sight. Someone familiar with the place and has trust from them needs to introduce you. This is the reason why I take time for dinner with you and explain the details and culture before getting in Ochaya. I believe that would help you enjoy the time with Maiko and Geiko more, and of corse, the perfect dine experience will also be such a wonderful time!
