During this tour, we will discuss the many interesting theories of how the wood came to be petrified, as well as the amazing exposed strata of the painted desert known as the Chinle Formation. We will also go over the rich native history in the area, as we walk amongst the ancient lands. There are a couple options for hiking the Badlands in the park. Before we visit the park, we take lunch in town and drive old Route 66 via Holbrook. We then take 4 hrs to explore the PFNP and travel North hitting most of the sites. We see 2000 year old Petroglyphs, 216 million year old Crystal trees, and the painted desert/rainbow hills.

In addition to magnificent Grand Canyon overlooks, you’ll view lava flow fields from Arizona’s most recent volcanic eruption, ancient Native American ruins and panoramic Painted Desert views. Starting with Oak Creek Canyon, one of americas most beautiful drives, then next on to the lava flows at Sunset Crater, and the 2800 Pueblos at Wupatki National monument, all while exploring the the ancient landscape the same way the natives had, so that when one arrives to the Grand Canyon they come in with full breath of readiness to experience it (we are the only company that spends time at multiple spots in each park). Before entering the Canyon we stop for lunch at the famous Cameron Trading post, then off to the East entrance, where we explore 4 points of interest to entirely take the day in, finally exiting at the south entrance. We take the the time to walk for an hour along the Rim path at the last destination, in Grand Canyon Village.

Your guide and van will pick you up at your hotel and proceed to train depot to check you in; upon disembarking train you will reunite with your guide and the remainder of your tour will begin touring the Grand Canyon and same guide and van will return you to your hotel.
