ENTANDROPHRAGMA EXCELSUM. Entandrophragma excelsum, is Africa's tallest indigenous tree native to tropical East Africaand occurs in eastern D.R.of the Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawiand Zambia. This species is scattered in areas of upland semi-deciduous forest, in mid-altitude and montane rainforest, at (925 –) 1280 – 2150 altitude. It is locally also found in riverine forest. Largest extant specimen of Entandophragma Excelsum (Swahili Mkukusu) at the slopes of Kilimanjaro (Mbokomu Moshi rural) measured at 81.5 m, being the tallest known tree in Africa. The 6 days Machame route is perfect for those who want a thrilling as well as adventurous experience amid their journey. The Machame route, also known as the Whiskey route, is one of the most popular routes on Kilimanjaro. In spite of being a tough climb compared to the Marangu route, the Machame route has one of the highest summit success rates. The topography of the route allows climbers to “trek high & sleep low”, which helps in acclimatization, which makes it one of the most favorable routes for acclimatization.The Machame route is scenically striking and diverse. However, due to the heavy crowds, it loses some of its grandeur.

Mount Meru is a massive volcano reaching 14,980 feet (4,565 meters). This trek serves as an ideal warm up for Mt. Kilimanjaro due to its altitude acclimatization and hiking distances.The tour has less crowd and challenging ascents which will prepare you to climb Mt.Kilimanjaro which has acclimatization altitude and hiking distance .

Lemosho Route: Approaching from the west, the Lemosho route is a relatively new route and is one of the best for scenery. It is one of our highly recommended routes, not only for its stunning scenery, but also due to its steady incline and better acclimatization. The first two days of the climb are quiet and have relatively low traffic, before joining the more popular Machame route. Time period is 7days and 8days.

The Lemosho route is considered the most scenic trail on Kilimanjaro, granting panoramic vistas on various sides of the mountain. As one of the newer routes, Lemosho is a superb choice for your climb. It is our preferred route due to its ideal balance of low crowds, beautiful scenery and a high summit success rate. Topi Adventure specializes in guiding on the Lemosho route. Most of our clients climb Kilimanjaro using this route and they consistently report that they loved it. Thus, Lemosho is highly recommended. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rain forest to Shira Ridge. The Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower.

Machame Route 6 Days 5 Nights Overview: Machame Route now vies with – and indeed over the last few years has overtaken – the Marangu Route as the most popular trail. Machame is also the regarded by many guides as the most enjoyable, though it is longer and, according to most, more arduous. Despite this, the success rate on the Machame Route is higher than on the Marangu Route, possibly because the Machame is a day longer at six days and five nights (assuming you take the Barafu Route to the summit) which gives trekkers more time to acclimatize. An extra acclimatization day can – and usually is -taken in the Karanga Valley. The Machame Route also gives you the option of taking the Western Breach / Arrow Glacier Route to the summit.

Materuni Village, Waterfall, Coffee tour and Local food Your guide will explain all aspects of the Chagga homestead including the other crops that they grow aside from coffee. You will get to see how the coffee is produced- from picking the bean to roasting and then make a delicious organic cup of coffee yourself . Following your coffee tour you will then take a short hike (make sure to wear some sport or Mountain boot ,shoes as it can be muddy up there), passing through local villages to reach the waterfalls. The Machame route, also known as the Whisky Route is one of the most scenic and recommended routes on Kilimanjaro. This popular route with paths through magnificent forests to gain a ridge leading through the moorland zones to the Shira Plateau. It then traverses beneath the glaciated precipices of the Southern Ice fields to join the Barafu Route to the summit. Because it can be done over longer periods and the incline is more manageable it has a much higher success rate of summit.
