iSimangaliso Wetland Park is a huge protected area along the coast of South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal Province. The park’s centrepiece is the vast Lake St. Lucia, home to large numbers of hippos, crocodiles, pelicans and flamingos. Elephants, giraffes and leopards inhabit the grasslands and forests of the nearby Western Shores and Charters Creek areas.

We will travel along a scenic route to the valley of a thousand hills and you will be guided through the Crocodile farm where you will see one of the largest crocodiles in Kwa Zulu Natal, and a full range of snakes which are indigenous to the area. We will visit a traditional Zulu home at Phezulu for a display of Tribal dancing to pounding drums, and a good opportunity to learn about the proud Zulu nation and their age old customs. Next up is the reserve that saved the southern white rhino from extinction. Start with the iMfolozi side which is typified by the open plains. As the sun begins to set we head into the hilly Hluhluwe side where we will track rhinoceros and other plains game. Check into our overnight accommodation before enjoying dinner at Ngweni Railroad Brewery & Cafe. Day two is all about predators! Head to Manyoni, meet your ranger and jump into an open safari 4x4. Go on a 2 hour game drive tracking the big cats. Stop at a scenic spot for breakfast before continuing on your game drive tracking wildlife like giraffe, elephant and rhino. At 10h00 we will make our way back to Durban via Zamimpilo Community Market.
