The colorful, chaotic Merced Market serves thousands of shoppers daily. On this tour, you’ll visit our favorite food stalls, meet some talented market vendors, and learn the market’s history. You’ll finish knowing why La Merced is unlike anywhere else in Mexico. We’ll start this tour in the Downtown Historic Center, before jumping on the subway two stops to La Merced market. There, we’ll wind through the market’s lively banquetón, or prepared food area, tasting tacos, aguas frescas and tamales. After that, we’ll stroll through the gigantic fruits and vegetables building, and learn about—and taste!—prehispanic ingredients, such as grasshoppers and agave worms. We will start with a traditional breakfast (included) at a quesadillas and tacos place. Then we will buy all the ingredients that you will need for your menu (previously selected by you). Once we have all ingredients we will go to the Chef's house where we will start with the cooking course. As you will be tired and thirsty, we will also include a small Mezcal tasting, and you will be able to try 3 different mezcals with the proper explanation. To finish this experience, you will eat all you cooked with the chef and interchange opinions of what you learned. This adventure will take us to the Pyramid Cholula, which is the biggest pyramid base in the world and the double of the base of the pyramid of Egypt. The pyramid never got the chance to be finished due to the invasion of Hernan Cortez and the Spanish army. Our guide will give us more detail about everything that happened in Cholula. Our next stop will be at Puebla City to visit the cathedral and the El Rosario Chapel, which are two of the most important spiritual spots in the city. We hop on our bikes and start our adventure from one taquería (Taco Shop) to another, tasting some of the best tacos recommended by the Michelin guide. We will try traditional tacos taken to another level as we pedal through two of the city's trendiest neighborhoods. Each taco has its own story, and we share those anecdotes as we move from place to place. We will stop at 4 taquerías that are part of the Michelin recommendations, each offering a unique experience. Before we head back, we’ll share a 5th taco with you: our taco surprise, which we believe will soon be on the Michelin list. At the end, we’ll enjoy a traditional neighborhood michelada while sharing tips for your trip in Mexico, giving you a true taste of the local culture.
