After free time for lunch you will return to the port of Naples and on board a vehicle, you will reach the archaeological excavations of Pompeii. The tour of the Middle Ages in Naples starts from the city's Cathedral, tetter known as "San Gennaro" because its remains and its blood are kept there. Herculaneum is named for the mythical Greek god, Hercules, who, according the legend told by Dionysius of Halicarnassus, founded the city in 1243 BC. Historic analysis, however, suggests that the city was founded by the Oscans or the Etruscans in the 7th century BC , conquered by the Samnites in the 5th century BC.

Enjoy a morning pickup from Naples before driving to Pompeii to visit the ruins. During this section of the tour, there will be an assistant on the bus to answer your questions. On arriving in Pompeii you’ll meet your guide and then explore the ruins for around 2 hours. Your guide will show you the traditions and daily life of ancient Pompeii inhabitants.
