Situated less about two hours drive from Florence, Orvieto sits on a volcanic plateau, high above the picturesque Umbrian countryside which surrounds it. In addition to being known for its high quality cuisine (truffles are a particular speciality), the city boasts an incredible Gothic Cathedral with a frescoed Last Judgement to rival Michaelangelo’s, a labyrinth of ancient underground tunnels and a fine art gallery. Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, has many sites relating to the life of the Saint which can be visited, the Porziuncola Chapel where he was born and the order was founded and the “Eremo delle Carceri” a peaceful monastery in the nearby hills, where he famously preached to the birds. The city’s masterpiece, the Basilica of St. Francis is important both from a religious and artistic perspective.

We will be visiting typical medieval villages, get in touch with local wine and food producers as well as artisans, and stop along the way to take some picturesque photos that will become indelible memories. An experienced tour guide will lead you around and show you the way as only a local can. The tour ends in an organic farm where we will be hosted by a family that has been living there since centuries, producing their own wine, Chianti Classico, but also extra virgin olive oil and honeys. We will have the chance to visit the property including the cellar and then relax in the veranda where a traditional Tuscan lunch will be served, all accompanied by their wines.

After being picked up from your Florence hotel, the day will start with a trip to Florence's historic rival, Siena! A UNESCO World Heritage site, and home to the Palio, the cities famous horse race held twice every year. Your guide will meet you from the car and take you on a private walking tour, lasting 3 hours. You'll see and be explained highlights of the medieval city by a real expert, including seeing the Duomo, Basilica of Saint Dominico, the baptistry and beautiful Piazza's. After a lunch in Siena, comprising of an a la carte menu with wine, your driver will take you to San Gimignano. Walk around this Fairy-tail village full of history full towers and peaceful piazza's. You'll then be driven through the Tuscany hilled countryside, enjoying vast vineyard views on your way back to Florence.

Your English speaking driver will pick you up at the parking area where vehicles are allowed to stop. You’ll need to take the shuttle from the ship to reach it. Florence is your first stop, where our Licensed Private Guide will show you around for 3 hours, beginning at Michelangelo Square. You will stop by Santa Croce Church, then continue to Signoria Square, where you will see Florence’s most famous sculpture and the Palazzo Vecchio, the famous Duomo to see the Baptistery and Giotto’s Bell Tower. You will also see The Old Bridge. Then it will be time for a stop in Pisa to visit the world famous “Leaning Tower,” the Duomo, the Baptistery and the Campo Santo, all located in the Miracle Square, before heading back to the port. Meet Mirella at her home for a hands-on Italian cooking class during which you will learn to make 3-4 dishes including homemade pasta. Mirella’s approach to cooking has been influenced by both Florentine Renaissance (Tuscan nobility) and her proud Tuscan roots. Your meal will include antipasti, pasta, a main and dessert. Mirella uses seasonal ingredients and has a different menu for every season. A sample menu might include bruschetta or vegetable tart, penne with ragù, Tuscan meatballs with seasonal vegetables and cioccolatissimo (decadent chocolate dessert).
