The 2nd hamlet we will visit is Vernazza, a rich jewel to discover, overlooking the sea, dotted with sanctuaries, military fortresses and an ancient castle. The last one is Monterosso, the largest of the 5 Terre. Here the paved streets are called "caruggi", historical alleys typical of the Ligurian landscape At this point you will evaluate whether to take a bath in the crystal clear sea of Monterosso or go to lunch In the afternoon, after the last walk, the minivan will pick us up in Monterosso.

The area was used primarily by the Etruscans to connect the towns of Fiesole and Felsina (Bologna). It was then populated by the Romans, and in the Medieval times was home to Tuscany’s noble Count Guidi, It remained inhabited by farming families until the 1960s. The "Parco Nazionale delle Foreste Casentinesi" is one of the most beautiful corners of Italy. Located between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna is 36.846 hectares wide. In the park there is a rich fauna of animals such as wolves, deers and boars and some of the finest beech forests you can see, in fact, the Sasso Fratino integral reserve inside the park is a UNESCO site.
