Put on your walking shoes for a full-day Samaria Gorge hike in Crete. Traveling with a comfortable air-conditioned coach, we head into Crete’s White Mountains to the entrance of the spectacular gorge, one of Europe’s longest. Starting our trip to Samaria Gorge early in the morning and towards Omalos. In the bus, our guide will provide you with useful information about the place, the history, the formation of the White Mountains, the flora, the fauna and some tips for the safety and regulations inside the gorge. During the trip we have a short refreshment stop and then we follow the way to Xyloskalo which is the entrance to the Gorge. The hiking is free which means you can keep your own pace while crossing the gorge. Finishing the Samaria Gorge hike you will reach the amazing beachside village of Agia Roumeli which is one of the most unspoilt beaches of South Crete. Our coach will be waiting for you either at Sfakia or Sougia where you will reach by taking the boat from Agia Roumeli.

After a ride in a modern, air conditioned bus transportation from Heraklion to Preveli Beach, you are free to go to explore this stunning area. While driving learn about the geology and history of South Crete. The bus will stop at a parking lot, the closest to the beach, where there is a path descending to the beach. The parking is located near towering vertical cliffs, where you can take some fantastic photos. To reach the beach descend the footpath (app. 400 stairs) that takes about 15 minutes. Wander the Palm Forest, full of Theophrastus palm trees and tropical flowers, animals, plants and the inkomparable atmosphere. Take a photo of the rushing Grand River and towering Kourtaliotikos Gorge cliffs and have a bath under the small waterfall at the end of the gorge. Return to the beach by walking in the river and have a refreshing drink at the bar of Preveli. After approximately 4 hours of free time at the beach, the day will come to an end and you return to Heraklion.

Our first stop will be a visit to Chania, Crete’s second largest city into the old town within the venetian city walls which is an attractive maze of narrow streets, old mansions and arcades, with mosques and minarets bearing witness to the turkish influence and the carefully laid out new town which is considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Greece. The lake of Kournas lies in a valley, in a beautiful area between the hills and the surrounding mountains and is reminiscent of a lake in the Alps. At Elounda you take the boat and cruise along the bay to the island of Spinalonga. The guided tour on Spinalonga will both fascinate and haunt you as you learn the tragic history of this island which was once a Venetian fortress and was then the isolated home of many lepers up to 1957 when it was cleared by the Health Authorities, leaving the place uninhabited. The Venetians constructed a very impressive fortress with forty cannons which has been guarding the strategic bay of Mirabello since the 15th century. We get on board again and head back to Elounda. Here we serve you your lunch and you will have time for resting or swimming in the crystal clear waters. After a short coach trip we arrive at Agios Nikolaos which lies on the shores of the Gulf of Mirabello and is famous for its 'bottomless lake’.
