This tour will take you through two emblematic areas. The Beaujolais region, world-famous for its wines, also boasts many beautiful castles, while the Dombes region, known for its ponds, offers a historical and gourmet escape to the medieval village of Pérouges. Starting from Lyon, head north to Beaujolais. Your morning will begin with a visit to a prestigious estate, perfect for understanding the region’s heritage and wines. After panoramic views from Mont Brouilly, explore the Château de La Chaize, the “Versailles of Beaujolais,” its gardens, and the longest cellar in Beaujolais. Enjoy a fabulous tasting of red and white wines. After a free lunch in Beaujolais, continue to Pérouges, a picturesque medieval village. The south of Bourgogne/Burgundy produces white wine, it's a region known as Mâconnais which is the border with beaujolais region. The area's first source of income is wine, it's not an industry, it's a lifestyle as there are mainly small producers who are free to create in their own style as long as they stay within limits defined by the industry. We've been coming here forever, we know the ins and outs of the area and we take pride in being the friend of a friend you'd like to have in a place you didn't know. We travel too and we hate being treated as tourists but we love being travelers. That's what we hope to do for you! The tour description above is an outline of what we can do, we usually end up adapting the content of the half day to maximize the value for money and time you put in us.

A relaxed day discovering the Beaujolais region and its scenic landscapes, talking to the winemakers and finally taste the different crus to understand how the Gamay grape thrives on the unique terroirs of the Beaujolais. 3 visits of wineries are planned during the day, two in the morning and one after lunch. We will taste 5 to 7 wines per winery and discover the different approaches to winemaking in the region (conventional, organic, biodynamic). As a wine merchant, WSET3 sommelier as well as passionate about France's culinary and wine heritage, I'll be joining you on the day to discuss all the different subjects that the world of wine has to offer.
