The Bale Mountains National Park is located in southeastern Ethiopia, 400 km southeast of Addis Ababa. It belongs to the Bale-Arsi massif, which forms the western section of the southeastern highlands.  The tour lasts 4 Days and 3 Nights. The collection on show at the National Museum is ranked among the most important in sub-Saharan Africa, but sadly many of its exhibits are poorly labeled, lit and displayed. Far and away the highlight is the palaeontological exhibition in the basement, the home of world-famous Lucy. Her 1974 discovery in the Afar region of northwestern Ethiopia changed our understanding of human origins forever. This section is well labeled in English, so if your time is limited to spend most of it here.

መልካም የመስቀል በአል/Happy Meskel Festival The festival of Meskel, one of the major Ethiopian Orthodox festivals is celebrated across Ethiopia on September 26th and 27th to commemorate the unearthing of the True Holy Cross of Christ by Queen Helena (Saint Helena) in the fourth century. The celebration includes the burning of a large bonfire known as Demera. The best place to experience the Meskel Festival is in the capital Addis Ababa at the famous Meskel Square. Meskel is also colorfully celebrated across the country, especially in the North and Southern parts of Ethiopia. UNESCO has registered the Meskel festivity in the list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity in 2013

Drive south from Addis to Mount Zuqualla to visit the Zuqualla Abo Monastery.
