Tours in La Fortuna

This is a half-day tour of the Arenal Volcano National Park walking a trail that goes all the way to the base of the mountain. Will be about 3 1/2 hours doing this trip to get to the old lava flows with magnificent views of the volcano and the Arenal Lake. There is possible to observe many species of birds and animals on the way and after that Baldi Hotsprings is included right after the volcano walk. We enjoy the relaxing swimming pools for 2 hours and 1 more hour for dinner. Total time: 6 1/2 hours to 7 hours. (The pickup time in the springs could be early if you want to stay less time)

Along the hike you will discover the abundant flora and fauna which inhabits the rainforest. Next, we will visit the hot springs of the volcano, where you can relax in the soothing waters and be caressed by the cool night air, while observing the stars and the incredible sky above the volcano. We begin the tour by heading to the El Silencio Private Reserve, to get as close to the base of the volcano as possible. Next, we will walk approximately 1 kilometer along a volcanic stone path with a moderate degree of difficulty, until we reach the viewpoint, the closest point to volcano permitted to access. At the viewpoint, our guide will provide relevant information on the formation of the Arenal Volcano, its periods of activity, as well as unpublished details of its first eruption in 1968. Enjoy the excellent views of the Green Lagoon and Lake Arenal. With a little luck, this 1.5 km trail will provide us with the opportunity to see a wide variety of plants and animals that inhabit the rainforest, like toucans, turkeys, orioles, peccaries, snakes, and monkeys. The Hanging Bridges Forest Reserve covers an area of 243 hectares (600 acres) of protected forest. This adventure is ideal for those who want to take in the characteristics and beauty of the tropical rainforest on foot. The 3.1 km (2 mi.) circuit trail will cross 15 impressive bridges, some suspended over the forest canopy and others, which are stationary. The bridges have different lengths and altitudes and were designed to offer different perspectives from which to observe the flora and fauna, as you pass through several levels of the forest. From the bridges, you will have views of the treetops making it easier to locate animals and birds. The topography of the terrain is relatively simple with some short slopes, suitable for all ages and ability levels.
