Pick-up at your hotel: from here, we travel approximately an hour through the Valle de Lerma to Chicoana, in the heart of Salta’s tobacco region. Passing the picturesque old adobe drying sheds, we arrive at the delightful farm of Cielo Verde for our wine tasting. Cielo Verde means “Green Sky” and it’s named for its location in an enclave of hills extending up into the Yungas cloud forest, and the famous Cuesta del Obispo (the road to Cachi). This is roughly a five hour half-day, including three hours at the finca, in one of our comfortable VW Amarok 4x4 pick-ups.
