The Rwenzori mountains, natively known as the 'Mountains of the moon' are situated in the Western Uganda along the Uganda – Congo boarder. The Rwenzori is a universally acknowledged hiking and mountaineering destination. The skilled climbers’ hike leads to Margherita summit – the highest peak in the range. The 9 days mountain Rwenzori trekking safari takes you to Uganda’s highest mountain range famous for its permanently snow-capped peaks. At 0700hrs, check out of your Hotel and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. Estimated transit time is 5 hours with frequent stops to stretch your legs. The drive takes you through little towns and villages as you observe the African rhythm of life. On arrival, have a Bigodi Swamp Walk. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is an initiative of the local people geared towards conservation in this area. On this walk you have chances for different bird & butterfly species, primates like black and white Colobus monkey, red tailed monkey, blue monkey, grey-cheeked Mangabeys, etc. There is also a variety of interesting plant species. You will then transfer to Queen Elizabeth where you will do game drives with excellent views of Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest Hog, Cape Buffallo, Defasia Water Buck, Uganda Kob, Topi and Bush buck. Their multitude of fast flowing rivers, magnificent waterfalls and stratified vegetation make the property exceptionally scenic and beautiful. The mountains are well-known for their unique alpine flora which includes many species endemic to the Albertine Rift in the higher altitude zones including giant heathers, groundsels and lobelias.
