Hike to the Peak! Also known as the mountains of the moon, the Rwenzori mountains harbor Africa’s third highest peak at 5109m. The highest Rwenzori peaks are snow capped. This is the only place in Uganda with snow. The mountain is a natural habitat of many endangered species and is also a permanent source of the River Nile. They are a reflection of the mist-shrouded mountains of this rugged massif that tower almost 4,000 m above the Albertine Rift Valley, making them visible from great distances. Besides the Gorillas, you will also have an opportunity to see other primates such as the red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, black and white colobus monkeys among others. This forest is also home to 120 mammals, 51 reptiles, 310 butterfly species, 27 species of frogs, geckos, chameleons, 163 tree species, 104 fern species, 1000 flowering plants, as well as over 350 species of birds such as the hornbills and the Turacos!

. A total of 95 mammal species have been recorded here, the highest for any Ugandan National Park. It is home to the most famous tree-climbing lions along the Ishasha Sector, the Ugandan Kob, and other Antelopes species, as well as Elephants, Buffaloes, Hippos, Baboons, and elusive primates in the scenic Kyambura gorge. A total of 547 confirmed bird species have also been recorded in Queen Elizabeth. This is one of the highest totals in the World and is truly remarkable for such a relatively small reserves. Visit Murchison Falls National Park – the largest game reserve in Uganda – to see the spectacular waterfalls from which the park got its name and the abundant wildlife. It consists of two sections - the northern and southern, which are divided by the Victoria Nile whose banks are host to plenty of wildlife, such as lions, buffaloes, crocodiles, elephants, hippos, and Shoebill. The breathtaking Murchison falls, which plunges 45m over rocky cliffs, and the famous big five – lions, elephants, leopards, hippos, and rhinos are the biggest draw to this park. Rhinos do not exist inside the park, but you can see them en route to it at the Zziwa Rhino sanctuary.
