Nemrut mountain with a height of 2150 meters, was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987. It is one of the most magnificent ruins of the Hellenistic Period. Göbekli Tepe 'Potbelly Hill'; known as Girê Miraza is a Neolithic archaeological site in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. Dated to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic, between c. 9500 and 8000 BCE, the site comprises a number of large circular structures supported by massive stone pillars – the world's oldest known megaliths. Carved out of soft volcanic rock, it dates back to the Hittite era (circa 1200 BCE), but it was expanded and used extensively during Byzantine times, particularly by early Christians seeking refuge from invaders. The city extends several levels deep, with a network of tunnels and rooms used for various purposes such as living quarters, kitchens, stables, storage rooms, and even wineries. It could accommodate thousands of people for extended periods.
