The Marangu route, also known as the "Coca-Cola" route, is the oldest, most well established route on Kilimanjaro. This is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodations in lieu of camping. There are 60 bunk beds each at Mandara and Kibo Huts, and 120 bunk beds at Horombo Hut.

This 4 days 3 nights safari will take you to 3 unique national parks in Northern Tanzania. You will get to spot wildlife in the famous Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti National Park which is known worldwide. If you're lucky you will get to see the big 5, but you can also be able to spot cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, zebras etc. You will have one night in Karatu, and 2 nights inside of Serengeti National Park, at a budget tented camp, where you will sleep in a permanent tent with a bed and shower, and there is a restaurant and security.
The Shira Plateau area of Kilimanjaro offers a fantastic opportunity to get high on a big mountain and to hike around this impressive World Heritage Site as a day trip – it’s a fantastic area and there are some great day hikes – either a more strenuous day hiking up along the ancient rim of the plateau or something more relaxed sticking to the undulating floor – perhaps going as far as the photogenic ‘cone place’ or Shira Needles’ at the Southern end of the plateau.
There is a fair amount of wildlife on the plateau however most of it is elusive and nocturnal but with care the events of the night can be reconstructed from the footprints around the watering points on the streams. There are herds of buffalo but also smaller gazelles and bushbuck, there is the carcase of eland and elephant higher on the mountain proving that these larger animals are occasional visitors.
The Lemosho Route is often considered the most beautiful of all the trekking trails up Mount Kilimanjaro. It crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. It is one of the newer routes on the mountain and shares a portion of the same path as Machame route, although it holds a few advantages over that route that definitely make worth considering, particularly for travelers who have some extra time.
Starting the western flanks of Mount Kilimanjaro at the Londorossi Gate, the Lemosho Route wanders its way up one of the more remote sections of the mountain. The trail takes hikers through a beautiful rain forest where they might have the chance to spot wildlife along the way. Black and white colobus monkeys are routinely seen in the forests, as are blue monkeys, small lizard and a wide assortment of birds. From there, the path wanders out onto the Shira Plateau, crossing it from west to east on relatively flat and easy to walk terrain.
The Shira Route is one of the less-trodden routes on Mt. Kilimanjaro that starts close Shira Ridge. It begins the western side of the mountain and is practically indistinguishable to the Lemosho Route. In spite of the fact that Shira is considered a beautiful and shifted route, because of the higher rise of the beginning stage, it is conceivable climbers could encounter side effects of elevation disorder as ahead of schedule as the primary day.

With an overall success rate of 95%, the Lemosho Route is hailed as one of the least crowded and most accessible routes on Kilimanjaro. The 6 days Machame route is perfect for those who want a thrilling as well as adventurous experience amid their journey. The Machame route, also known as the Whiskey route, is one of the most popular routes on Kilimanjaro. In spite of being a tough climb compared to the Marangu route, the Machame route has one of the highest summit success rates. The topography of the route allows climbers to “trek high & sleep low”, which helps in acclimatization, which makes it one of the most favorable routes for acclimatization.The Machame route is scenically striking and diverse. However, due to the heavy crowds, it loses some of its grandeur.
The Rongai route is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border. Though gaining popularity amongst climbers, Rongai has low traffic. It is the preferred route for those looking for an alternative to the crowded Marangu route, for those who would like a more remote hike, and for those who are climbing during the rainy season (the north side receives less precipitation).
The second most popular and indeed one of the most beautiful routes up the mountain is the Machame Route. Also known as the Whisky Route, this trail is both longer and slightly more challenging than the Marangu Route. Where accommodation on the Marangu route is in huts, the Machame route offers strictly tents only. The route is better suited to the slightly more adventurous hiker, however rewarding him with a scenic splendor such as not seen on the Marangu route. Provided of its challenge about 80% of hiker makes to the summit of Africa.
