You will be visiting Sigiriya first for a view of the famous Sigiriya Rock Paintings and the many marvellous ‘modern’ additions that King Kasiappa had in his fortress. Afterwards, you will visit a Sri Lankan village still living in a bygone era for a taste of authentic Sri Lankan traditions and activities (the tasting part is literal as you will get lunch here too). Finally, you will be visiting the Minneriya National Park for a chance to see some wildlife in their natural habitats.

Discover the remarkable ancient city of Anuradhapura, the first kingdom of Sri Lanka, located near Sigiriya. This excursion presents an opportunity to explore the ruins of Anuradhapura, which are among the most captivating landmarks in South Asia. The extensive site is home to a rich array of archaeological and architectural marvels. The tour will commence at approximately 6:00 am from Sigiriya, allowing us to traverse significant portions of Anuradhapura. Visitors will encounter numerous ancient reservoirs, dilapidated temples, and monumental dagobas (brick stupas) throughout the region. You will take a brief break for lunch, and after refreshing yourself, we will have the opportunity to explore the Mihinthala Buddhist site. This site is one of the most significant locations for Buddhism in Sri Lanka and is renowned for its trekking and cultural experiences. At the conclusion of the tour, we will provide transportation back to your residence in Sigiriya.

This half-day Minneriya National Park safari will give you the opportunity to witness a large numbers of Sri Lankan elephants who are attracted to grass fields on the edges of the reservoir during the dry season. The Minneriya tank contributes to sustain a large herd. Elephants gathered here is numbering around 150-200. Some reports account the number of elephants to as high as 700. They migrate here from Wasgamuwa National Park and benefit from food and shelter of the park's forest. Tourists visit Minneriya largely because of elephants, especially in the dry season.

Along the way, you will discover why this part of the island has been declared an area of great biodiversity and special protection for birds. With our strength back, we will continue the safari by observing the Asian elephants of Kaudulla. The enormous mammals are grouped into herds distributed around different areas of the national park. It is a very relaxing experience while enjoying the scenery by overlooking both Sigiriya and Pidurangala Rocks. You can decide which session (morning sunrise/evening sunset) you want to experience depending on your travel plan. We are using a catamaran and you can sit on the deck before starting the activity. Up to 6 members can sit comfortably on the deck. I will be providing life jackets for your safety. I will tell you the stories about the history behind Sigiriya and Pidurangala when those places were occupied by the King Kashyapa (473-491 AD) and also by the monks. Pidurangala was the mein temple in 5th C.AD therefore a lot of activities happened in between Sigiriya and Pidurangala. We can discuss those as well while enjoying the vibe. Also you can observe about 40 water-birds along with their behaviours. We can take a note or list down their names by looking in the bird guide book. The scenery is the main attraction of the boat ride. It is really beautiful!
