In Sa Calobra, you will be dazzled by its majestic cliffs, crystal clear waters and the scenery at the Torrent the Pareis. From there, you will board a boat and sail along the coast towards Port Soller, the largest natural harbor of the Tramuntana. At Port Soller, you will board a vintage tramway to the village of Soller, just a few kilometers from the port, and considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain. From there, you will get into a centenary train to return to Palma. The Hams Caves are over 10 million years old, but people has only been able to enjoy their beauty since they were discovered back in 1905 by the speleologist Pedro Caldentey Santandreu (1886-1950) while he was digging for onyx, a precious stone abundant in the region. In 1910 he managed to produce electricity to illuminate the cave even before electric power had reached the village of Porto Cristo. Using a water mill, a dynamo and a water tank, he generated 16 hours of electric current to enable visits to the caves. In the Blue cave, with its spectacular new blue lighting using led technology, you can enjoy the educational documentary “Discovering the past” about the history of Majorca, its first inhabitants, the formation of the Hams caves and their discovery.
