Golden monkeys tracking is a thrilling experience that gives an impressive happenstance with these beautiful species of monkeys known as the Golden monkeys, endangered species. The endangered golden monkey enjoys a territory of highland forests, especially bamboo, living in groups of up to 80 individuals. A handful of troops in Volcanoes National Park have been habituated and can be tracked in a similar way to the gorillas. The monkeys are playful and inquisitive and often spend their time leaping from bamboo branches or frolicking on the forest floor towards the base of the volcanoes and have overcome their initial shyness to accept their daily visit by researchers and tourists. Gorilla trekking tips • Warm clothing is advised especially the evenings and morning are chilly. • Bring water along on your trek, eating, drinking and smoking near the gorillas is forbidden – designated time and place will be communicated by your ranger guide. • Photography is permitted, although you must not use flash. • Porters are available to help you carry your day pack for a small charge. • Mountain gorillas live at high altitude and this may cause difficulties for some visitors. You should pace yourself, walk slowly and drink plenty of water.

Years ago in the time of the Rwandan Kings, there once was a prince who decided to decorate his house by molding geometric shapes onto the wall of his hut using cow dung.  In time, this technique was developed into a popular form of traditional Rwandan art called “Imigongo.”  During your workshop, you will learn the history of Imigongo Art in Rwanda.  You will then paint your own chosen Imigongo (cow dung Art) to take away with you.
