Portugal Active’s Horseback Riding Tour will take you through the breathtaking scenery of Viana do Castelo. You’ll pass through fields of flowers, mountain trails and even the paradisiac beaches* of the city. The tour can be made for anyone – from a beginner to a professional – we have horses for all types of riders. It will be supervised by an experienced teacher who will guide and teach you how to better control your horse. *During bathing season, there are legal restrictions on horseback riding and it isn't allowed to ride on the beach sand therefore our route will be adapted accordingly.

On our tour we will dedicate the morning to visit the cathedral, and after lunch hanging around the middle age city of Santiago, discovering some secrets in its narrow streets. On the return there’s also a stop in Valença do Minho, the Portuguese border city at the top north. Here we will focus our visit in the fortification with roots from the XII and visible reconstruction from the XVIII. A unique view for the city, Minho river (natural border), and Spanish side.

In the heart of Minho region we find the first portuguese capital. Today still keeps it's medieval look and structure, that we will stop to admire and have a lunch break between wineries visits. You will visit (and taste) the production of two fantastic farms in the region. An older one with Vinho Verde production for centuries. Fall in love with one of the most impressive cities in the northern region. Guimarães is proudly the cradle of nationality, since in the distant twelfth century, here we gained independence from the kingdom of León, having been established as the capital of the Portucalense County. Since then, the city has maintained its defensive walls, castle, burgh and workers/peasants quarters until the 19th century. Today, we can still marvel at its medieval genesis, with the small squares and narrow streets, in addition to admiring the great monuments and cultural legacy present in every corner of the city. On this visit we'll explore the entire area within the walls touching the points of interest and curiosities, to culminate in a detailed visit to the two most emblematic monuments of Guimarães - Castle (10th century) and Palace of the Dukes of Bragança (15th century).
