These reminders serve as poignant symbols, urging current inhabitants to remember the horrors of war and strive to prevent such atrocities in the future. You'll visit the renowned Ghetto Heroes' Square, where Jews were selected for transport to concentration camps, and witness a section of the original ghetto wall, now a solemn monument and pilgrimage site for many Jews. The district still bears witness to the lives of thousands of displaced Jews in its houses, including the historic pharmacy "Under the Eagle." Exploring these streets offers a captivating journey through their rich and profound history.

Plashow is a Nazi concentration camp in the southern suburbs of Krakow, founded by the Nazis shortly after the German invasion of Poland. Originally, Plashow, opened in 1940, was planned as a forced labor camp, but in 1941 the camp was expanded and subsequently converted into a concentration camp, where from October 28, 1942, deportation of Jews from the Krakow ghetto began. Plashow was known as a concentration camp, supplying several military factories and a quarry with labor. The camp and life in it are shown in the Schindler's List movie (1993) about the life of Oskar Schindler. The area which held the camp now consists of sparsely wooded hills and fields, with one large memorial to all the victims, erected in 1964 and few smaller. As the Plaszow area is now a nature preserve, so the director Steven Spielberg built a camp replica in the Liban Quarry, some hundred meters away. We will visit all this points during our tour.

Zalipie - a small village 120 km east of Kraków. It is not a museum or an open-air museum (normally people live and work here) but this place attracts tourists. All thanks to painted colorful huts, fences, barns and even... doghouses. The tradition of beautifying farmyards dates back to the old days, when the interiors of rather poor cottages in the village were covered with soot from the home stove. Painting the walls was considered a whim, so the resourceful Zalipie women came up with the idea of decorating the darkened walls with white irregular spots using lime and birch twigs that replaced the brush. As the "packing" of walls gained popularity, more and more elaborate and bright motifs began to be painted. And so, over time, colorful decorations became a local tradition and a hallmark of Zalipie.
