Vinicunca, known as the Rainbow Mountain, is a fascinating destination located in the Vilcanota Mountain Range, within the majestic Peruvian Andes. Located at an impressive altitude of 5,036 meters above sea level, in the district of Pitumarca, this mountain stands out for its arid terrain and its peaks adorned with brightly colored stripes, ranging from fuchsia and turquoise to lavender and gold. The different hues that adorn its slopes have diverse origins: the greens reveal the presence of minerals such as iron, magnesium and copper oxide; the yellows highlight the sulfur in the composition; the whites emerge thanks to quartz sand and limestone rock; while the red tones are generated from clays and argillites, which include mica and quartz rocks.
