Experience the Land of Trolls with our 6 hour sightseeing tour to Trollstigen. The bus will take you from Ålesund, through charming norwegian villages to the Land of Trolls. First stop will be at Kokarsteinen placed just above the fiord. We will pass by Sjoholt village known for the furniture and wood industry and Valldal – famous for tasty strawberries. Next stop will be at Gubrandsjuvet. It’s a 5 meters narrow and 20 – 25 meters high ravine where can take a bridge and walk over it. After that, the bus will drive you to the Trollstigen so you can enjoy the majestic view of natural landscape and fantastic mountain road with eleven hairpin turns. While driving down the road, we will take an extra photo stop at Stigefossen – the powerful waterfall with a total height of 240 meters. Last stop will be at Trollvegen (Troll Wall) which is Europe’s tallest vertical rock face. From here the bus will drive you through Åndalsnes back to Ålesund.

The next and the last point of the trip will be a stop at the view point Aksla – the best place to enjoy a magnificent panorama view over the city and the archipelago. For those who wish to walk down to the city center by the 418 stairs and take unforgettable photos, the tour will end here. Discover the scenery and history of the ‘Viking saga islands’ of Giske and Godøy. From Ålesund, we’ll travel across the Giske bridge to the saga island of Giske, the birthplace of the Viking chieftain, Rollo. The municipality was named after this small island because of its historical importance. Giske is fairly flat and fertile with some settlements dating back to the early Bronze Age. A stop will be made to photograph the exterior of the quaint 12th century white marble Giske Church, which was originally the private chapel of a local influential family. Travelling through a tunnel will bring us to the island of Godøy and the picturesque fishing village of Alnes. There will be a stop at Alnes Lighthouse for a visit where, on a clear day, there is a lovely view of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding islands. After returning to Ålesund, a stop will be made at the view point on Mount Aksla to enjoy the breathtaking view and a sightseeing tour through the city.

After some easy training in a safe area, the trip starts with exciting rapids and waves through the first section of the Valldøla. As the river calms, we take our first break on the riverbanks. All guests get the opportunity to swim a fun river rapid. It is a surprising and rewarding experience to feel the power of the river as you safely float through the waves. Once everyone has cooled off enough swimming in the river we continue downstream through high mountains and endless fields of strawberries. Just over halfway point we pull out and take lunch stop along the river. We light a fire, warm water, and serve a local delicacy, Svele, with local strawberries and cream. A great way to refuel before setting out on the final, and swiftest section of the river. The grade steepens and rapids increase in both number and size.

Departing from Hellesylt, our boat will take you on an unforgettable journey through the Geirangerfjord, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its outstanding natural beauty. As you cruise along the fjord, you'll marvel at the towering mountains, cascading waterfalls, and pristine blue waters that surround you. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery from the Varden viewpoint. Our shuttle service will take you comfortably from 0 to 407 m in just 15 minutes to the 407 m high Varden mountain. A spectacular view of the city, its fjord landscape and the magnificent mountain panorama of the Romsdal Alps with its 222 peaks can be enjoyed from the top. The Moldemarka, as the popular hiking and skiing area of the Moldenser is called, offers numerous outdoor activities at any time of year. The Varden is an absolute MUST DO while visiting Molde. There are two options for the way back: A leisurely ride back to the harbor on our shuttle or something more active on the approx. 4.5 km long hiking trail. For the hike, please calculate approx. 1 hour walking time back to the harbor. Both options will pass the Romsdal Museum. The open-air museum with reconstructed historic houses gives you an impression of the history of the region. You can also refresh yourself there with coffee and Svele (Norwegian pancakes).
