The Keukenhof is a flower park in Lisse, 45 minutes from Amsterdam. The park has an area of 32 hectares. Beside the flowers, the Keukenhof also has exhibitions of special flowers with a new flower each week. Some examples of these themes are roses, orchids, and chrysanthemums. Whilst at the site it is also possible to take a boat trip, which sees you sailing between the bulb fields. These boat trips are referred to as whisper trips, due to the boat's electric motors. At the Tulip Experience Amsterdam you will see the history of the tulip in their museum. Next, we visit a local cheese factory near Volendam, where the cheese master explains how Gouda and Edam are made. In the clog factory, you will discover the secrets of this typical Dutch footwear. Next, you will travel back in time to the 17th century, as we pass the cosy fishermen's cottages in Marken, the fishing harbour and the Protestant church.
