Essaouira, formerly Mogador in Amazigh, called by the Portuguese Mogador. It lies on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, 174 km west of Marrakech. Founded in 1760 by Sultan Mohammed Ben Abdellah. Departing from your home at 08:00 while the road you will see huge argan tree plantations. The argan tree, which is only cultivated in Morocco, is the most important endemic flora in the Essaouira region. It occupies a very important place in the region as it plays both an ecological and a socio-economic role.

Drive from Marrakech to Casablanca, the largest city in Morocco. Visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Africa, and the fifth largest in the world. The Mosque is built partially on land and partially over the Atlantic ocean. Get away from the hustle-bustle of Marrakech to the stunning Atlas Mountains and witness a traditional Moroccan life. It’s a beautiful road and certainly the best natural landscapes. Zat Valley is only 70 km from Marrakech. Admire the many beautiful landscapes in the atlas mountains and with its Berber villages which are hung down from the mountains, visit a Berber family house and dine there. Pass across olive trees, peach and fields in Zat Valley, extend your adventure with a walk at the highest point to enjoy the stunning views.

A days walking in the Atlas. Leave riad around 9am, take the road to Asni (market on Saturday), and arrive at Imlil around 10.30am. Have tea in a nearby café then a circular walk (3/4 hours), with a local guide  and learn about the local flora and fauna. Lunch can be taken at the Kasbah du Toubkal ,  in a local restaurants  or in a local berber house . On returning to Marrakech, there is a chance to stop for tea at Kasbah Tamadot (Richard Branson’s hotel), arriving back in Marrakech around 4.30pm. Lunch and the guide  are  not included.
