After you are picked up in the morning from your hotel or location you specified in Ulaanbaatar, you will be driven to Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes, a semi-desert type beautiful landscape with big sand dunes. Your lunch will be served at a suitable spot on the way. The mountain is home to hundreds of birds, deer, and gazelle. You can go hiking around the area or ride a camel for a couple of hours to the small sand dunes nearby called Elsen Tasarkhai. Later, you will visit a local nomad family where you will have an opportunity to experience their way of life, culture, and traditions. Afterward, We will visit Khustai National Park as a bonus where we are going to see the world-only wild Przewalski horses in Mongolia. The monastery situated in 16 km west from Bornuur soum of Tuv territory, at the front of Dalyn Khavtsal Mountain. The perfect tour for those looking to combine some fun and easy exercise by biking through wooded hillsides and open valleys of Baga Khenty mountains. A short car transfer east of Ulaanbaatar brings you to the giant mounted statue of Chinggis Khan where the biking starts from. While bikes are being readied you can take a panoramic view of the vast steppe from an observation deck on the horses head. You'll cycle at your own pace on peaceful country roads and catch a glimpse of a life that has seemingly not changed for a few hundred years. Large flocks of yaks, sheep and goats roam the area and circular tents of local herders can be seen from time to time. Picnic lunch will be served at the day’s highest point (1750m) with a lush meadow and wooded slopes as the back drop. The rest of the day is a gentle roll across open valley with many nomadic homes dotting the scenery. By 5pm we load bikes and take a 2 hour return transfer to UB.

Meet with your guide and drive to the ruins of Manzushir Monastery on the edge of Bogd Khan mountain range. From there we take a 3-4 hour hike on a trail of moderate difficulty through mixed forests and alpine meadows to 2256m Tsetsee Gun peak, the highest point of the mountain range. We have a picnic lunch on the peak with scenic views of typical Siberian forests in the background before heading back down. We visit the monastery complex which was originally built in 1733. It was completely destroyed during anti-religion campaigns of 1930-ies with just the main temple remaining to these days. But apart from it we will see a few sections of shattered walls, foundations, stone terraces and some stone niches in the cliffs. The main temple building was recently been renovated and now serves as museum. We return to Ulaanbaatar in late afternoon.

In just an hour’s driving distance from Ulaanbaatar there lies the Terelj NP, the most easily accessible part of the nearly 2mln hectare Khan Khenty strictly protected area. Terelj, meaning rhododendron is just a tiny but nevertheless a spectacular part of it, a fantastic venue for hiking and horseback riding. Proximity to the capital makes it a popular destination for single day tours. You will find yourself in a wide mountain bowl dotted with rock formations of weird shapes, quite often named after things they resemble. Upon arrival we hike in the park, visit a charming Buddhist temple on a cliff top and optionally take a short horseback riding tour. Lunch will be served in a local holiday resort with some fantastic rock formations as the backdrop. Return to Ulaanbaatar in late afternoon.
