This destination is the most traveled destination for tourists and locals alike in Mongolia. Please prepare for long drive in car ( at least 8 hours driving ). Travelers can see real natural beauties of Mongolia during this trip. Certainly the Semi-Gobi sand dunes are the main attraction for this tour. With this one day trip travelers can experience mountains, grassland, nomadic lifestyle, herds and animals, and desert.

In just an hour’s driving distance from Ulaanbaatar there lies the Terelj NP, the most easily accessible part of the nearly 2mln hectare Khan Khenty strictly protected area. Terelj, meaning rhododendron is just a tiny but nevertheless a spectacular part of it, a fantastic venue for hiking and horseback riding. Proximity to the capital makes it a popular destination for single day tours. You will find yourself in a wide mountain bowl dotted with rock formations of weird shapes, quite often named after things they resemble. Upon arrival we hike in the park, visit a charming Buddhist temple on a cliff top and optionally take a short horseback riding tour. Lunch will be served in a local holiday resort with some fantastic rock formations as the backdrop. Return to Ulaanbaatar in late afternoon.

Meet with your guide and drive to the ruins of Manzushir Monastery on the edge of Bogd Khan mountain range. From there we take a 3-4 hour hike on a trail of moderate difficulty through mixed forests and alpine meadows to 2256m Tsetsee Gun peak, the highest point of the mountain range. We have a picnic lunch on the peak with scenic views of typical Siberian forests in the background before heading back down. We visit the monastery complex which was originally built in 1733. It was completely destroyed during anti-religion campaigns of 1930-ies with just the main temple remaining to these days. But apart from it we will see a few sections of shattered walls, foundations, stone terraces and some stone niches in the cliffs. The main temple building was recently been renovated and now serves as museum. We return to Ulaanbaatar in late afternoon.

Terelj National Park is set in a spectacular valley with fascinating rock formations and pine covered mountains, where you can enjoy horseback riding, hiking and photo shooting. On this tour we will take you to a nomadic family and go on horse to Turtle rock, 23m tall turtle shaped rock - one of the famous places in Terelj and hike up to Aryabal medication temple on the beautiful hillside. From the park we'll easily connected Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex. The statue is dedicated to Mongolian legendary emperor - Chinggis Khaan. It is 40m high and well known as the tallest equistrian stainless steel statue in the world. The museum inside the complex has small exhibition of "ger", traditional yurt.

After you are picked up in the morning from your hotel or location you specified in Ulaanbaatar, you will be driven to Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes, a semi-desert type beautiful landscape with big sand dunes. Your lunch will be served at a suitable spot on the way. The mountain is home to hundreds of birds, deer, and gazelle. You can go hiking around the area or ride a camel for a couple of hours to the small sand dunes nearby called Elsen Tasarkhai. Later, you will visit a local nomad family where you will have an opportunity to experience their way of life, culture, and traditions. Afterward, We will visit Khustai National Park as a bonus where we are going to see the world-only wild Przewalski horses in Mongolia. The park is also home to red deer, marmots, 220 species of birds, and other wildlife. Then you will be transferred back to Ulaanbaatar where this tour concludes.

It is true that the Khustai National Park is the home to wild horses called Przewalski horses or takhi, in Mongolian. However, it is not true Przewalski horses is the only attraction of the Park. Because the Park occupies such a vast territory, there is ample opportunity for various outdoor activities such as takhi and bird watching, hiking, horse or camel riding, photo shooting and visiting ancient artefacts there. Add contrast to your trip by visiting the Terelj National Park, where the nature is articulated in great combination of sheer granite mountains, open fields and river. Visit to the tallest horseman-statue in the world, dedicated to Mongolian legendary emperor – Chinggis or Genghis Khan, is also included in your convenience.
