Gun-Galuut Nature Reserve is a protected area in Tuv Province, 81 miles (130 kilometers) east of Ulaanbaatar, for conservation of globally endangered species. It comprises of three zones: tourism, limited, and the Core, which are steppes of the ecosystem with rocky mountains, small lakes, rivers, streams and wetland covering an area of approximately 20,000 hectare. Although the reserve is comparatively small, the diversity of ecosystem here is impressive.

Staying alongside a family is likely to be one of the most memorable parts of your journey. Since we began designing and arranging journeys to Mongolia, we've been setting up small homestays in partnership with nomadic families, thus providing additional income for them and an intimate authentic experience to our clients.  Spend 7 days at a homestay and get stuck in to family life! Learn first-hand of the infamous nomadic hospitality, sharing milk tea, snuff, nomadic vodka and fermented mare's milk, help out with chores such as milking and try your hand at making dairy products. Learn about the daily challenges of nomadic life whilst playing a game of ankle bones or crafting delicious Mongolian dumplings.  

If you want to know about nomadic life, staying with the hospitable nomads is a great way to experience real Mongolia at its best. You can see and try dairy product making, sheep herding, mare and cow milking etc. Most of them have extra ger for their guests neighboring their ger and you will stay in their guest gers, which are roomy and comfortable. You will enjoy real nomadic delicacies and beverages and can help the nomads in their everyday work. Washing facilities are simple in nature, outhouse mainly.

Winter in the Gobi is much warmer as compared to the northern part of Mongolia, and the cold months start from December to February.

You will start our trip by driving to Mongol Nomadic Tourist camp. There you will participate the Mongolian nomadic cultural program and get to know more about nomadic culture and lifestyle. You will be offered by some traditional food and entertaining Morin khuur and Mongolian folk songs. In addition, you’ll get introduced with the national games and archery. Following the show, you will have a lunch at the tourist camp restaurant. Afternoon, you will drive to to reach the National Park Khustai Nuruu. You will explore the extraordinary spot where the Asian wild horse grazes. The Hustai NP is famous for its successful reintroduction of the Przewalski Horse /Takhi/, the only remaining wild horse, since 1992. This unique horse was extinct in wild around late 1960s. Thanks to the well planned introduction program, in 2024 Takhi number reached more than 315. Also, the park and its surrounding area have much to offer to the lovers of the nature and culture.

This is true the Naadam is traditional festival in Mongolia. The festival is also locally termed "eriin gurvan naadam" mean "The three games of men". The games are Mongolian wrestling, horse racing and archery and are held throughout the country during the midsummer holidays. Women have started participating in the archery and girls in the horse-racing games, but not in Mongolian wrestling. One of the main tourist attractions of Mongolia is its nomadic lifestyle, which has been preserved for centuries since the time of the Mongol Empire. Even in the 21st century, amidst the rapid advancements of science and technology, Mongolian nomads continue to tend to their livestock and migrate in search of better pastures throughout the year. Our trip offers an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in their culture, traditions, and hospitality by living in a traditional Ger for a few days and experiencing their unique way of life. Mongolian people have maintained their nomadic lifestyle for centuries, regularly moving their camps to find fertile pastures to feed their livestock. KHUSTAI  NATIONAL PARK: The nature reserve is about 100 km south-west of Ulaanbaatar. Highest point is 1842 m, There are over 10 fresh water rivers, populations of Asian red deer, steppe gazelle, deer, boar, wild cat, wolf and lynx, 126 kinds or birds, 450 floras.  In between 1992-2001 Takhi (wild horse) was adopted from Holland in Khustai National Park. A total of 84 Przewalski horses are brought 4 times. In the beginning of 1900, wealthy zoo director from Humburg in Germany came to Mongolia and bought 51 foal of wild horses and sold to a wealthy  people in Dutch, French, and America. Now Mongolia have nearly 350 number of wild horses.In order to protect the wild horses, Khustai became Special protected area. Many tourist like to visit to see Przewalski's horse and deer, marmots in this area.

The great Gobi desert covers one third of Mongolia’s territory. Hundreds of years ago the desert was part of the main trade route between East and West, with camel caravans crossing the vast steppes loaded with perfumes, spices, and other goods.
