Mantanani Island is a group of three isolated islands northwest of Kota Belud, a one-hour drive from Kota Kinabalu. Although only approximately an hour's boat rides by speedboat from the mainland, the islands were only known to a few locals. This cultural village was opened in memory of the great and legendary Kadazan Warrior Monsopiad and built on the very land where Monsopiad lived and roamed some three centuries ago At the Village, visit the Tangkob or Grainery where the padi is housed.Kotos Di Monsopiad or Monsopiad’s Main House is dedicated to the life and times of Monsopiad and his descendants. On display are ceramic jars, padi grinders, bamboo items as well as the costume of Bobohizan Inai Bianti, direct descendant of Monsopiad and very senior high priestess. Other interesting exhibits include the massive monolith which invokes a dozen legends, the traditional restaurant and of course Siou Do Mohoing, or the House of Skulls, where all 42 ‘trophies’ of Monsopiad hang from the rafters.

Located on the Klias Peninsula is the Klias Wetland, a Mangrove Forest Reserve. With the bizarre-looking proboscis monkey gaining as much popularity with the tourists as the orang utan, the Klias Wetland with its large proboscis population is fast becoming the latest ecotourism destination in Sabah. Join this tour for a White Water Rafting adventure on the Kiulu River that will suit those looking for a moderately adventurous and relaxing experience. You will travel north of Kota Kinabalu to Kiulu River, passing by beautiful scenic countryside and the rural town of Tamparuli. Upon arrival you will receive a short safety briefing before beginning your adventure! When the water is high, the furthest you can raft is up to 15kms. When the water is low you can enjoy a 7km distance. The grade of this river is between 1 and 2. Deep pools punctuate the river rapids, allowing you plenty of opportunities to indulge in body rafting or swimming! The journey will take up to 1.5 hours and is finished off with a delicious BBQ lunch before returning to the city.

The village is located at Kionsom, Inanam about 25 minutes away from the city. Upon arrival at the entrance of the village, you will be ushered to the warmth of different homes of the ethnicities of Sabah. Each home was built by descendants of the tribes they represent and offer you a truly genuine experience seeing everything in and around the village lends to its magical prowess of taking you back in time. Not only does this village portray these tribes through the architectural genius of their traditional houses, but also through a range of simulated lives of the olden epoch by the residents of the village.
