Invented by the Venetian Jews, it was originally a simple toponym: "ghetto" is nothing but the hardening of the Ashkenazi pronunciation, that is of the German Jews who first arrived in this place, of the term "geto", which indicated a foundry (place where the molten metal is "thrown") In the years before 1516 many other Jews had sought protection in the city, escaping from the hinterland due to the wars. Soon the Ghetto assumed international notoriety and, after the Germans, began to welcome Jews from the most disparate points of the diaspora, Spain and Portugal, Italians, Marranos. Within a few meters there were five synagogues.

The Glass Master is still using the same techniques that have been using for centuries. You will be amazed by this experience! A representative of the glass factory will explain all the different steps of the production and after the demo you will visit the showroom. And an artistic glass item will be given to you as a gift!

Enter St Mark's Basilica and, accompanied by an experienced local guide, raise your eyes to the ceiling and admire the glittering expanse of golden mosaics covering the vaults and domes. During the visit you will discover masterpieces from the past and their interesting iconographic representations, such as the famous golden domes, the iconostasis, the ciborium and the main altar housing the tomb of St Mark the Evangelist.
