Private Alamparai Fort with Fatima History Tour
History of Alamparai Fort
Alamparai Fort, located on the Coromandel Coast in Tamil Nadu, is a lesser-known yet historically significant 17th-century fort. Built during the Mughal era under the Nawabs of the Carnatic, the fort served as a thriving seaport and trading hub, exporting goods such as ghee, salt, and zari cloth to the Middle East and beyond. The fort was later controlled by the French before being taken over by the British in the late 18th century. Unfortunately, it fell into ruin after being damaged in the British siege and further deteriorated during the 2004 tsunami.
Despite its current state of decay, the fort's crumbling walls, overlooking the scenic Bay of Bengal, offer a glimpse into its glorious past.
