Walk in lava fields and hike an old volcano! Join us on an adventurous hike close to Reykjavík to one of Iceland´s most well known mountains, Mt. Keilir. The mountain can easily be seen from airplane when flying to and from Keflavik airport. We head to Mt. Keilir and drive through the lava fields in the Reykjanes peninsula. The hike starts with a 45 min walk towards the mountain before ascending its steep slopes. The view from the top is absolutely amazing and you will of course sign the guestbook located at the top. You will witness a wonderful view over the area, volcanoes, the steam from the Geothermal, The Reykjavik mountain Esjan, the towns, the lakes, horses. You can even see the famous basalt columns on this totally 2.5 - hour Activity. If we are lucky you can perhaps see the ignition of the red sky of the Midnight Sun in the Summer time or perhaps witness the Ignition of the Northern Lights in the Winter time like in another world. But note that the Reykjavik city has made a non pickup zones for tourist in the downtown so we pick up from special tourists bus stops over there. The Valley of Thor, or Þórsmörk (Thorsmork) in Icelandic, is a nature reserve in the southern highlands, located between three glaciers; Eyjafjallajökull (the famous glacier volcano that erupted in 2010 and caused widespread disruption to air traffic in Europe), Mýrdalsjökull and Tindfjallajökull. Þórsmörk is a place of diverse and magnificent landscape with its ice capped peaks, jagged mountain ridges and valleys rich with moss and birch woodland. Þórsmörk is a paradise for hikers, photographers and nature lovers. The route to Þórsmörk has many unbridged rivercrossings with deep fast flowing waters, famous for trapping tourists in un-modified rental cars. Therefore we take you to Þórsmörk in one of our super jeeps, a modified vehicle with huge tyres that can forge rivers and tackle just about any terrain. Riding in a Super jeep is an adventure on its own. Beautiful Surroundings of Thorsmork is a Super Jeep tour with an optional easy/moderate 90 minute hike.
