Siglufjörður was the main herring town in Iceland during the “Herring years”. In the early 20th century the workers arrived in full force to the area to make the most of this exciting time. Tour start in Akureyri and we do offer hotel, harbour or airport pickup/drop off free of charge. We begin with a visit to a former herring village, Hjalteyri, stepping 50 years back in time. We visit the local farmer's market Vellir in a authentic Icelandic farmers community at Svarfaðardalur and in Siglufjörður we visit the award winning Herring Era Museum. Here you will have ample time to explore the boats, workers living quarters, and the factory areas of this impressive museum. You will have time to explore the Siglufjörður town before we head back to Akureyri. Travel time is included in the total tour duration.

This tour is a combination of hiking and sightseeing. We start our tour from Akureyri. Our first stop is Goðafoss [the waterfall of the Gods]. Afterwards we will keep on driving direction Lake Mývatn. Next stop will be Dettifoss waterfall. Dettifoss is Europe's second most powerful waterfall. Then it's off to Hljóðaklettar, a row of ancient craters shaped by the glacial river Jökulsá. This area is where we go hiking for about 2 hours in a very unique landscape. Then we head towards the ocean where we may be able to discover some puffins which are found in the area from May to beginning of August. Next it's time for coffee at Tungulending, a small coffee house located on the beach at Skjálfandi bay. From there we go to Húsavík and stroll around the harbour area. We end our tour driving back to Akureyri. This is a round trip.

From Zero to Hero You are a beginner and want to learn a little bit of riding skills here in Iceland or you are an experienced horse rider that never tried the Tölt on an Icelandic and want a deeper insight of the uniqueness of this gait. You can book a private riding lesson with a specific wish what you would like to learn under the supervision of a skilled riding instructor. (The duration on horseback is approx. 30-45 minutes. The lesson includes preparing the horse under the supervision of the riding instructor before and after the ride).

The Whale Watching Activity is in the whale watching capital of the world: Húsavík. The activity lasts approximately 3 hours. Litlaá, meaning "Little River," is located near the northern coast of Iceland. This is an unusual spot to find warm water, but thanks to a nearby geothermal active area, we get to enjoy snorkeling in water with a temperature of about 20°C. The tour takes place in a lagoon called Brunnar, meaning "Wells." The lagoon's floor is full of mesmerizing dancing sands. The cold water erupting from the bottom causes these beautiful designs described as the "Bubbling Sands" that you must see with your own eyes. Because of the warm water temperature, we also find fields of strange green algae, plants, multicolored sediments, and a countless number of snails. In the shallow rocky area at the edges of the lagoon, we find countless numbers of sticklebacks traveling around in large groups. Both locations are on the Diamond circle making it the perfect self-drive activity.

Not quite ready to wind down your evening and feel like trying something fun? Glide across the pure Nordic waters in a great end of day activity and soak up the evening sun. Standing on our SUPs is completely optional. You do not need to stand, you can kneel or sit comfortably. Lie down, watch the clouds, listen to the waves, this tour runs at your pace. Our Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) is a leisurely activity, it´s slow paced and relaxed. This tour is beginner friendly, but can be tailored for those who are experienced SUP goers. We give training on how to safely handle the SUP, different paddle strokes and safety procedures you can take with you on other SUP adventures around the world. Before we set off we make sure everyone is comfortable and can use the techniques.
