The aim of my walking tour is to make you discover and experience our city through the eyes of an insider and to be informed by a native Hungarian about the past and current affairs of the city. I’d like to tell you all the history behind our bridges, buildings and statues, but most importantly I would like you to have fun and return home from Hungary with great memories.

We offer deeply personal exploration of history through touching stories, alongside insights into Budapest's vibrant contemporary culture, including its renowned nightlife and urban art scene. In addition to delving into the rich historical significance of the Jewish District, our tours stand out for their emphasis on uncovering hidden symbols and lesser-known narratives, providing a comprehensive understanding beyond typical tourist experiences. The small booking fee you have paid to Viator is an administrative fee to guarantee your spot on the tour. You are encouraged to tip your guide what you feel the tour was worth at the end. The history of this area goes back to the 13th century and its golden period was in the 15th century. The Ottoman invasion, the Habsburg period and the fights in 1944-1945 had a significant effect on the architectural feature of the district. The most popular sights of this area are the Matthias Church, the Fishermen's Bastion, the Royal Palace and other interesting places under the earth as well. This tour can also be extended on request by a visit to the Watertown, which is a narrow area between the Danube and the Castle Hill.

We start the tour from downtown 1052 Budapest, Chain Bridge Apáczai Csere János u. 12 - 14. We drive to the Castle District where we show you the main attractions of the area (Matthias Church, Fishermen’s Bastion - from where you can enjoy the beautiful panorama) and we have a short walk. We cross the river to the Pest side on Elisabeth bridge to go along river Danube, then Andrássy Avenue (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Opera House. Then we turn to Heroes’ Square (statues of the most famous Hungarian kings and freedom fighters). In the City Park we pass thermal spa Széchenyi and the Budapest Zoo. Returning to the center we show you St Stephen’s Basilica. The tour ends at Hotel Intercontinental, from there you can have a 5 minutes riverside walk to Dock no.6 Vigadó square (MAHART) boat station. The outer part of the viii district was considered as a no-go area, deemed the gypsy ghetto, the district is often still considered one of the most undesirable, run-down, poor, and depressing parts of the city.
