First stop is in Sedlec a suburb of Kutná Hora, where we will learn the history and how it became a second most important town in Bohemian Kingdom thanks to the silver mining during the Middle Ages. Concentration camp and Jewish ghetto, the only institution of its kind in the country is located north to Prague. It‘s about 1 hour drive from Prague and during the time you will spent there you will take a guided tour that will take about 2 hours. This former garrison town was built in the 18th century. During the World War II this large area was converted by the Nazis to a place of suffering. You will see ancient monuments of Czech history of the Middle Ages and recent centuries. The unusual romantic atmosphere of these places will amaze you, and traveling on a scooter will not be boring.

This tour shows the development of the well-known Prague Jewish community from the time of the Enlightenment at the end of the 18th century, their advancement in industry, art and literature and finally also in the civil service, their large part in the development of Bohemia into an industrial superpower, the training of the Prague Zionism in the face of growing anti-Semitism towards the end of the 19th century and its fate after 1938, the occupation by Nazi Germany. One of the main themes is the phenomenon of Prague German literature, a unique development in a language island that produced world-renowned writers in the early 20th century who are largely forgotten today. The only exceptions are e.g. Kafka, Werfel, Kisch or Brod.

When I first came to Prague as a child, I was enchanted by the beauty of its Old Town. Every residential building is a work of art thanks to the city’s house signs. It takes 1.5 hours to reach Meissen town from Prague by car. It takes 30 minutes to get to Moritzburg Castle from Meissen town by car. Bottled water will be available in the car for you free of charge. If you feel hungry we have lunch in a local restaurant in a centre of town. Lunch is not included in the tour price (cca 25 EUR per person). Minimum number of people for booking is 2 persons. Maximum is 6 persons.
